  1. In reference to their twin team in the NBA: Utah Jizz
  2. To each their own. If I play poker (or Schafkopf) with friends, we write down, but never pay out. The fun of mocking the others and frustration is the same. Good for you, if you managed to stop before losing. Most don't. Former teammates used to boast with how much the won again, but never mentioned when they lost. As for sports gambling, in particular, I have never understood it. Why the need to add excitement by betting if you enjoy the sport as it is? Or you don't, you don't have to watch it. Gambling in general seems to be a basic need for many, still don't like it, especially the ubiquitous role it has nowadays. Gambling ads left and right, gambling mechanisms targetting kids and teenagers with their free2play-crap all over the place, an industry exploiting the young, weak and vulnerable. Know your limit my ass.
  3. Would be funny, but the price is probably too high to make sense.
  4. In theory possible. Many European soccer clubs that are not among the top teams (and virtually safe from relegation) often hand out contracts similar to NHL/AHL 2-way-contracts that are either only valid in the highest league or carry a lower salary for the lower league. So after relegation players can just leave as free agents or become cheaper. Even if Schalke gets double relegated, they do not necessarily cease to exist. The 3rd-division is also a professional league. It happens all the time in European/German football that highly successful, long-standing clubs get relegated, some recover and come back strong (e.g. VfB Stuttgart this year), some don't. Borussia Dortmund was very close to going bankrupt twice. 1. FC Nürnberg, Hamburger SV, Dynamo Dresden, 1.FC Kaiserslautern and many, many more won multiple national championships in the past and have been playing somewhere between 2nd and 4th division for years. Sometimes it is mismanagement, sometimes greed, bad luck or simply changing conditions that big, long-established clubs fail to adapt to.
  5. Arshdeep Bains will be on that list one day.
  6. Will help in the playoffs, against Boston and stuff.
  7. German football legend Franz Beckenbauer passed away. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/39265759/bayern-munich-germany-legend-franz-beckenbauer-dies-aged-78
  8. Nice interview. Sounds like a man with a plan and who knows what to do. Fairly reserved when talking about Myers, Kuzmenko and Hoglander but turned into fan-mode when talking about and praising Hughes. Doesn't sound like Podkolzin will be with the big club any time soon. Also the part about contemplating a rebuild and why he quickly decided against it was interesting.
  9. I can only speak for myself, but I'd say it is less the opinion itself that puts people off but the way it is conveyed. Same with King H., it is hard to take someone seriously when an unshakeable opinion is extremely strong and expressed in an arrogant, somewhat demeaning manner. Doesn't leave much room for constructive dialogue.
