  1. And other injury news: He hasn't been productive enough for awhile, just able to disrupt play on defence and the forecheck. But I'm sure we have a few injuries people are playing through, with Hronek being one of them that I've heard.
  2. Yeah, no way they figured he was so bad they'd just let him go, or that he'd run his course after years of mediocrity. The team made some strides this year. I'm sure he played a part in that along with players stepping up and other factors, so it would be nice to have some continuity, hence the two year offer.
  3. I'm not going to read through all that, but the effort across the board was a million times better tonight. Controlled play, pushed Edmonton's best players, and ended up getting the better of the bounces as a result. That makes the difference in playoffs hockey. Unlucky not to have more, where that could have been Edmonton saying that the last three games.
  4. Farhan also updated his tweet to include Bains as being considered.
  5. Most likely considering the other two lines have had changes the past few games.
  6. I was just thinking I was missing my CDC signature image!
  7. I could see it for a game 7 elimination if he really is close, but otherwise I doubt he gets in until the next round.
  8. The NHL is definitely ok with game management, although I won't admit to believing they in general direct officials to do so in favour of one team over another. The perception alone is a terrible optic for the NHL though, and they really should be doing everything they can to fix that.
  9. "Supplementary discipline exists (among other reasons) to make up for missed calls on dangerous plays” was what you said in your post, and I disagreed there were as many as you thought that would qualify for that. Missed calls that wouldn't receive anything outside of an in game penalty are not handled by supplemental discipline, some of which can still be dangerous. I do agree it can be a crap shoot at times for how penalties are called and what gets suspended, even if I'm typically the guy that can see their reasoning behind a suspension or not based on the reading of the rules.
  10. More Demko, looks like he's getting closer:
  11. I disagree that there have been that many plays worthy of supplemental discipline. Hyman falls under that for me, Kane's slewfoot was at best borderline but probably just a penalty, and there's no way to McDavid's high stick had intent and was worth more than 4 minutes. Deb mentioned the boarding non-call, and I'd say that's definitely borderline, but just because something should have been a penalty but wasn't called doesn't mean it should become a fine or suspension.
  12. Agreed. To be successful a team needs to have players coming up from within. Then they can move current players to keep building and still be successful. Pretty hard thing to do though.
