bh90
thoughts? Why for Pittsburgh? Smith has struggled to find chemistry on any lines in Pittsburgh Mikheyev might be a better fit in Pittsburgh playing alongside Eller and Rakell (two speedsters) in a shut down, transition line role Dubas is familiar with Mikheyev Save some cap space for this year and next. The extra year on Mik's contract won't affect their long-term outlook realistically Why for Vancouver? Canucks could use more playoff experience .. whereas Pittsburgh has a ton Smith might compliment Petey and Lindholm better with his power forward-lite play style Save 1-year of cap commitment in 25-
Miss Korea
Reilly Smith is a middle six two-way forward who uses speed/tenacity to generate chances off the rush and the forecheck. There's a lot there that Tocchet likes. But here's the thing - he has a very similar skillset to Ilya Mikheyev, and there's a lot that Tocchet likes there.

flickyoursedin
Both on pace to have the same type of production but Mikheyev is slightly cheaper. I’ll keep the cheaper guy. 1

And our guy is way better without the puck and can be great on any line.

Regardless, Pettersson - Lindholm - Mikheyev could be one of the best shutdown lines in the league. Have to see how good that line is first. It is true that we have a month before TDL Better the devil we know. Plus Mikey is 3 years younger and $250k cheaper. This cup run isn't a scorched earth proposition. The core is young.
