Jess Posted September 20, 2023 Author Posted September 20, 2023 Based on his career numbers, he should be a pretty good backup. 1 Quote
Kootenay Gold Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I am thinking they will want to move one of their goalies though as the crease is getting crowded between Abby and the Canucks. DeSmith might be just travelling through. Quote

Bure_Pavel Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 As long as he is a former dirtbag who can stop pucks. His rise from the ECHL to the NHL is impressive. Quote

AHL could get a bit crowded if Tolopilo is good enough for the AHL. That said, I think if he can start in Kalamazoo, that will be good experience for him. Quote

Not sure that is how it is going to play out. You forgot that Tolopilo is in the mix for an AHL spot Quote
Fred65 Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 Did I read some place the Avs are looking for a back up ? Quote

DeSmith maybe a add in for trading a winger. It would help if we had someCap Spacestarting the season Quote

If DeSmith lands the backup job in Van then Martin would likely be put on Waivers and Tolopilo would be the backup to Silovs in Abby and Sawchenko would probably be going to Kalamazoo. Quote

Rip The Mesh Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 A huge bonus if DeSmith can be counted on to take the wheel at any time ! 1 Quote
Mackcanuck Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) DeSmith is De-Man! 2 starts, 2 wins Casey DeSmith was fantastic tonight, especially in the third period. Tocchet spoke earlier today about the team needing to trust their backup goalie, and so far, there’s been no reason for the Canucks not to trust DeSmith to man their crease. DeSmith stopped 34-of-36 shots in a 5-3 win over Florida on Saturday. DeSmith has been a great addition to the Orca lineup. He's won both of his starts and is 2-0 with a 2.73 GAA and .938 save percentage. Edited October 22, 2023 by Mackcanuck Quote
