Whether the Canucks win or lose tonight, you can tell him "Hey son, you're not going to school tomorrow because I'm taking you on a trip for your birthday! Pack a bag and we'll be heading out tomorrow morning". If he asks, just say that it'll be a surprise and that he'll know soon enough. Assuming he has a Canucks jersey, you should secretly stash it in your bag and then take it out on Thursday and tell him "you're gonna need this tonight!".
