"After Tokyo, deep down inside, I knew I didn't want to play in Paris," she said, referencing the 2024 Olympics. "The way the Tokyo Olympics ended, you can't beat it. "I wanted to give it one more shot for the World Cup, just because I really thought we could be successful there and we hadn't been successful in a long time at World Cups." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- more at link. note- she will play one more year of pro soccer, but is no longer going to rep for Canada.
Psylocke
Was at the game last night! Thank you, Sincy!
RupertKBD
Watched the whole thing. (Almost. Canucks were playing too) Pretty emotional night. 48k in the stands for a women's friendly is pretty impressive. The game itself was kind of meh. I thought Quinn was good and the back three defenders were solid.
RupertKBD
Team Canada got off to a good start in the Gold Cup, with a 6-nil thrashing of El Salvador. In the first competition without Christine Sinclair, Chloe Lacasse stepped up with a goal and three assists. It's just one match, but CL has been knocking at the door for a while now and may have just kicked it in: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/soccer/lacasse-leads-relentless-offensive-attack-as-canada-outclasses-el-salvador/ar-BB1iKmBP?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=57f454cf696e47bd9c24234b3a9cd202&ei=30 Quote Cloé Lacasse scored and tallied three assists and Adriana Leon bagged a brace to lead the way for Canada in Group C play. Olivia Smith, Jordyn Huitema and Kadeisha Buchanan also found the back of the net for Canadians. “The goals were coming from different places, which is always great… To get a clean sheet and have goals come across five players, we’ve got to be happy,” Canadian coach Bev Priestman told reporters after the win.

UnkNuk
The Canadian Women play Costa Rica on Saturday in the Gold Cup quarter-finals. They just played Costa Rica in the final game of the group stage and beat them 3-0 so Canada is the favourite to move on to the semi-finals. The game will be on One Soccer & Fubo at 4:00. I wanted to switch over and watch the end and was disappointed to see that there was no cable broadcast on any of the TSN feeds. I did see a highlight package later. Basically, Canada dominated possession, chances and shots but couldn't score. Kailen Sheridan made a massive save in 2nd half stoppage time on what was basically the Costa Ricans' only decent chance....

UnkNuk
US 2 Canada 2 (US wins on penalty kicks 3-1) Quite a game. If you ever wanted to watch a soccer game played in a swamp, the first half was for you. The players were sloshing on the field, the ball was waterlogged and heavy coming to abrupt stops. Ridiculous. The game should have been delayed if not postponed til tomorrow. And the Americans' first goal was a direct result of those weird conditions. The second half wasn't quite as waterlogged. Canada came back with a nice goal. And the game goes into extra time. The US scores in the first half of extra time. Looked like Canada was cooked until the last seconds of the second half when Canada was awarded a penalty kick which they converted. Exciting. But Canada couldn't convert on their penalty kicks and the Americans walked away with yet another win.

UnkNuk
The Canadian Women's team will take part in the four team "SheBelieves" tournament. It basically serves as a warm-up tournament ahead of the Olympics. The four teams involved are the US (#4), Brazil (#10), Japan (#7)and Canada (#9). Canada plays Brazil on April 6 at 12:30pm. Winner of that game plays the winner of the US/Japan game for first place. https://canada-soccer-pressroom.prezly.com/canada-soccer-unveils-2024-shebelieves-cup-roster

UnkNuk
The Canadian women lose again to the US in penalties. Nonetheless, the two games in the series should be a good warm-up for the Olympics.
