RWJC
East Notes: Jiricek, Dach, Czarnik, Mazur October 31st, 2023 at 9:00pm CST • By Brian La Rose While Blue Jackets defenseman David Jiricekis eligible to be sent to the minors which would allow the team more time to decide whether or not they should burn the first year of his entry-level deal, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports that the blueliner is expected to remain with the big club through his tenth game. Doing so means that he would officially burn the first season of his entry-level contract. The 19-year-old has two points in eight games so far this year in Columbus while logging a little under 14 minutes a night. His presence on the roster means that two rearguards (Andrew Peeke and Adam Boqvist) are on the outside looking in but it appears that will be the case for the foreseeable future… link to rest of article: https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2023/10/east-notes-jiricek-dach-czarnik-mazur.html#google_vignette
flickyoursedin
Very nice! With this decision it shouldn’t be too long before one of Peeke or Boqvist traded. The longer they sit the more their trade value would diminish.
DownUndaCanuck
Not just talking about Peeke but Blakenburg and Boqvist as well, they're really jammed up on the right side. Not sure if any of these guys are currently a massive upgrade on what we already have but it'd be interesting to take a look at CBJ now. RWJC
I would love to see mgmt go balls to the wall and invest further into this team and pick us up another top 4 rather going after 6/7 bit players. The addition of Hronek is a prime example of how to completely redefine the back end in one move. We need one more like him. Then the requisite secondary and tertiary Dmen will be easier to acquire and can also pair any incoming young talent with a bonafide presence that will be great for experience and maturity at the NHL game. One more top 4 on the back end gets us really close to the D we’ve been trying to assemble for years and immediately gets us into the conversation amongst the top 5-10 D corps amongst the league: 5. (TIE) VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS AND NEW YORK RANGERS Top six Golden Knights defensemen:Alec Martinez, Alex Pietrangelo, Brayden McNabb, Shea Theodore, Nic Hague, Kaeden Korczak Top six Rangers defensemen: Adam Fox, Jacob Trouba, K’Andre Miller, Ryan Lindgren, Braden Schneider, Erik Gustafsson 4. DALLAS STARS Top six defensemen: Miro Heiskanen, Ryan Suter, Esa Lindell, Jani Hakanpaa, Thomas Harley, Nils Lundkvist 3. NEW JERSEY DEVILS Top six defensemen: Dougie Hamilton, John Marino, Jonas Siegenthaler, Colin Miller, Luke Hughes, Kevin Bahl 2. CAROLINA HURRICANES Top six defensemen: Dmitry Orlov, Jaccob Slavin, Brent Burns, Brett Pesce, Brady Skjei, Tony DeAngelo 1. COLORADO AVALANCHE Top six defensemen: Cale Makar, Devon Toews, Samuel Girard, Josh Manson, Bowen Byram, Jack Johnson

Oh yesssss!!! give them a sweetner.... say Klimovich!! I actually would love to get a C out of them too by expanding on this deal.... we are really thin on C.... Once we can open up a forward spot, I wanna see Bains!!
Provost
Oddly, it is rarely a bad idea to burn an ELC year on D. His extension comes up faster. It is really hard to young D to really dominate, so he has a year less development and his next contract will be based on less of a resume to save a little money, at least on a bridge deal. 1
