  1. Myers magic. He does have the "IT" factor, that our 94 team seemed to have lots of. Hockey Guys's stuff is always interesting and fun to watch. Go Canucks GO!!
  2. Lack imagination so used my first initial and half my last name. The photo is me and my Dad, after a day of big game fishing. Fanny packs and all. Was a great day. Otherwise it would probably be something like this:
  3. That's the spirit! EDM can suck eggs. We've got last change. Last time we had last change, EDM couldn't keep up. Our fans are amazing. And our guys will feed off that.
  4. Why are so many fans being "realistic"? This isn't the time for that. And writing us off before the puck drops. It's not over until it is. Game day, put your best foot forward and let's support these guys. Get your game faces on. We can celebrate the terrific season this has been so far when it's over. Silovs or De-Smith. Silovs does what he did for Latvia we aren't close to done yet. It's a team sport. Anyone can be a hero in Game 7, part of what makes it so special. Get ready! Live feed, Corey Perry's exercise routine:
  5. That's why Soucy was signed, Zadarov brought in, Joshua as well. Do you feel we've been "pushed around?". Saw more battle in the NSH series, then EDM's brought. Haven't you? And as far as "normally" goes, if that is the bubble, not the same team (and agree that team didn't have what it took to go far, Game 7 was Demko, we all know that). We had a big team in the 80's and 90's compared to our peer group. Second round was fairly normal in the Quin era. One amazing run. Agree we do need another guy in the forward group, and Hronek shine has faded. Still need to make the post season. We also belong where we are. Considering we'd likely be a Presidents trophy team with Demko healthy enough to play 60-65 games, which is what teams look for in a star starter, and i'm not sure this would have gone to Game 7 (we'd be waiting to play Dallas) if we had Demko, our team plays a different style. More relaxed, and don't see three guys behind him for playing so far out etc... We definitely belong where we are. EDM isn't a "bigger team", why do you think they've taken us to Game 7? We also "beat on" NSH. And beat them. Sure wouldn't swap teams. Garland is a big part of that. I do agree we lack another big body upfront. Juulsen as our 7th man is nice too. Hronek ... that's a pickle, need guys to get you to the post season too.
  6. They say they "weren't at their best". We haven't played our best game yet either, despite Game 5 probably the best so far. It's going to be a titanic battle.
  7. Off season: Zadarov is the priority one. Lindholm almost as high. Then Joshua, then Hronek (we still have time there). Zadarov has taken shifts with QHs. And he's been our best D when it matters the most. Lindholm, because i'm pretty sure, Geuntzal will command a similar AVV, he could be EPs pair. One of those guys anyways. And EP needs a pair, next season. Hronek is important, sure he's had a less the spectacular playoffs so far, you still need guys who can get you to the playoffs, and he played a big part in that, especially the first half of the season. I'm not a fan of this 8 x 8 talk. Edler never got a deal like that (term) and sorry, don't think Hronek is better than Eagle was. It's a big risk modest reward. He's no Devon Toews. Not yet anyways. To me Hronek doesn't need to get done this summer. If talks are far apart, then qualify him. And see how it goes during the regular season. A term deal to me anyways, should be in the high 6's, at most 7. Know he's a unicorn (RHD), that's factored in. As Miss Korea pointed out in that thread, he's no Devon Toews. LE 2.0 on the D it's a scary proposition. Look at how many of those great Canucks from the early 2010's were on 5ish year deals, how much we lamented over their term's and clauses. To me 8 year deals are for stars. Joshua. Without him our forward group has little teeth. I'd sign him. A 3 year deal is fair, somewhere in the 3.5-4 range. Bluegar a lateral deal is fine. My order is big Z, Lindholm (we are going to end up paying in the 7's to find a UFA top six winger anyways, or another Mikheyev type middle six free agent who could go ok or could suck, time to bite the bullet) ... Lekkermaki is the gravy, if he works out, can't expect it too though, not right off the hop. Same as Linus Karlsson, look at Podz' career arc. Myers likely re-signs at around 4. Cole is gone. Juuslen replaces someone. And his story is just starting. Edit: Expect to see Ilya Mikheyev off the team. Likely costs us one of Hogs, Podz, Karlsson and a pick. That's tough. Have to find the cap space somewhere. They moved one time almost 40 goal scorer Kuzmennko, moved Bevuellier, Horvat ... shown a willingness to create cap space. Also agree, can't just slot in any free agent. Often that goes to the highest bidder. Loyalty and how things are going with the team they are often traded too if they were on a bad team before, factors in too. We have time with Hronek. For sure we can't slot Tanev in as a patch job.
  8. That would tie our history into a tidy bow. Playing NYR in the final, would be cathartic. Honestly feel the West is best this year.
  9. As for those who won't cheer for EDM once it's all said and done (it's not going to happen thank god) It's a little telling, that EDM fans are saying they'd cheer for us, and Canuck fans not as many the other way around. If we weren't playing a group of dirty divers ... and a team just like ours instead, believe that poll would reflect that and we'd reciprocate. This isn't the 80'-90 Oiler team. It's also not the Pronger led Oilers either. A ton of us supported the Oilers back then. We've never really had a rivalry with EDM either. We did against CAL, twice. Both those teams I respected a lot of their players. Robert's (despite running McLean 3 times), Vernon (despite his Game 7 heroics in 89), Theo Fluery despite having our number, Al Mac, Gilmour, Joe New, later Iginla and Kipper...can't say the same with their group. Maybe Ekholm. Not their stars though. They embellish, and whine, and always look to the refs like we stole their lunch money. Never seen anything quite like it really.
  10. Last year the best series was Dallas and Vegas. It was really a hard fought, and fun to watch. The fact the Canucks have had played some good hockey against this team, bodes well. When we get by EDM, it's possible the same thing could happen this year. As in the best hockey of the playoffs, any round, the WCF. A lot of folks are also tuning in to watch us tonight. And already have been too, that don't usually follow either team much. Because it's also been an exciting series and two different styles going at it, and it's the only game to left to watch in the second round. The league wants long series, and their wonder boy getting his shot. Won't matter. Our team is exciting to watch because we are giant killers, and built for the post season. Game management shouldn't be as much of a factor, they got their freebie with Sutherland already. Dallas is the best team right now, there is no denying that. Not by a margin that doesn't give us a chance. Demko getting close, and EP back online, we can beat Dallas. Right now it's EDM facing elimination. Cheating and game management on full display, it hopefully wont play into tonight's game.
  11. Wasn't following that GDT. Usually stay out of it and just enjoy the game in my own time. Wet blanketing is a choice, and well an Olive branch suggesting maybe it's time to cut that out. Some of us believed in this team going back to our rapid start. It's not the same team we had a year ago. Join us! Cheerleading is fun too.
  12. Looks like we had it nailed from the start. Made several posts saying there is no rush, and that we need more time to truly assess ... Riding shotgun to QHs is going to add some apples no matter who's there. Suggested Chychrun, as a comp, and also said he plays LHD, and is a bigger body. To me, whatever the team offered, was probably reasonable. Locking down Hronek at a 50 million dollar deal is a huge number and also a huge risk. Why can't they do something reasonable that's in the Myers range instead? Or what we used to do with Edler. Made a long list of regrettable deals. Hronek hasn't reached his peak. And deserves to get paid for it. What did Myers do up until his UFA deal? And what did Edler. Is he better than Edler? I don't think so. Why can't the team sign him for 5-6 years at 6.5-7.25 instead.
  13. Myers was IMO, the best D in the bubble. No he didn't get on the scoreboard like QHs did, also has never been on the first PP unit (rightly so). Tanev insulated QHs mistakes, and once we hit Vegas was completely nuetralized. Even after his shoulder injury and coming back at 80%, Myers did just fine against their monster sized forwards and D. And since his WNP days, steps in up come the post season. Allvin and JR did a great job signing Soucy in the off season, and trading for Zadorov. He's no longer the only D with some bite to his game. And he's no longer the 2-3rd best option either. It takes a village, and he's a big part of that village. His best season as a Canuck and more to come.
  14. Not sure why you're not joining in on the fun man. This is fun. Epic series, and we are just as deserving to be where we are as any other team left in the show.
  15. Good chips. I'm not a Lay's guy, Ruffle's are good too.
  16. As in the Canucks do? At some point, the more success the team has, will create a bit of a cap bind. Tanev has a lot of miles and also a little too much sentimentality. He's a warrior for sure, and maybe he's got some gas left in the tank for a re-union. Hronek's lack of success/performance so far, doesn't mean it's not coming, and also gives the brass a negotiating point on a long term deal. Some players get you to the playoffs, others shine once there. The best ones, do both. Was pretty vocal on the Hronek thread that high 6's low 7's was a fair deal and got ripped for it. What has he done, that Myers hasn't so far? Caps gone up, and going up, as far as cap percentage goes Hronek has proven he's a top four guy and deserves a decent deal (just like Myers did, and he was a UFA). Just because he's not doing it now, doesn't mean it won't come. It's a gamble for sure. A 5-6 year deal makes sense for the team. A full term deal, those should be reserved for the real deals. Something like 6.75 x 6 or 7.25 x 5. Given we'd be buying 4-5 years of UFA. Not even sure that's what we should do either. As in JT Miller. EP, QHs.
  17. So proud of this team and what they've accomplished. This series is what playoffs are all about. Storylines like Silovs, become legendary later - we are witnessing history. This game proved what supporters have been saying all along, we've got the ingredients to go all the way. We truly do. Nobody, not even Dallas, can beat us when we are firing on all cylinders. This has been an epic series so far. Another game like that and they are toast. Refs... sure hope that the media is going to switch lanes now and start giving us our due. McDavid and Draisatl, probably need a half dozen or so appointments from our CFF attending @DrJockitch, from all the blowing the media has been doing. Not sure it hasn't fallen off yet, likely play with a pack of ice in their cups, which is the only cup they will see this year.
  18. Fans are fine. Media sucks. When EP scored his PP goal, he got a 2-3 minute standing O. Fans showed their appreciation.
  19. Canucks still in it. Some hard lessons on the way, this group is resilient. And has to understand now what it's going to take to win a cup. They are still in it. Expect some big hits, some big goals and a lot of crying and whining once it's all over. From the wet blankets and their beloved Draisatl and McDavid. Took OT and a late goal from then not to get a brooming. By our 3rd string goalie (who's played well). In Silovs we trust and Demko is almost ready. Stretching it out.
  20. If we are talking about the same interview, it was borderline abhorrent, and a prime example of how quickly our media is to jump on players backs and pound them into the ground. The Sedins suffered through this for years, and that "Sister" theme, stuck around well past the time they'd figured out their game and become the stars and for awhile, superstars, that they were all along. This is EPs second crack at the post season, and first one with fans. NSH and EDM also are a lot closer to Vegas than St. Louis or MIN, in their hard (and for EDM, dirty) style of play. Vegas shut down the entire team, with the exception of Motte and Myers, Demko. Even Miller. Toffoli was invisible, and a certain groupie portion of the fanbase still fawns over him like he was the missing link (how did that go for WNP?). Toffoli would have been better than what he's currently got though. At least he can sneak, and shoot the puck. In the end EP can only control what he can. Would it be worth putting him with Joshua and Garland instead? Maybe. That's about the only thing I can think of. Lindholm could create a shutdown line with Mikheyev and whomever. Either that or roll the dice with Lekkermaki, that's pretty bold.
  21. Think that we will see Lekkermaki get a game with EP. Tochett said they are going to try and get some wingers for EP ... that right there says two things, he's not going to risk messing with most productive line so far, Millers line, and that he's willing to mix it up. EP needs at least one skilled guy, or finisher, and one forechecker. It's truly unfortunate Hogs has struggled, some of his 24 goals, were simply sick skilled plays. This is an Allvin problem too. They tried to add another top six winger (Geuntzal), but the cost (Hogs?, Podz?) was too high.
  22. Media is already hounding him, we might have the worst media in the NHL, worst of any market i've been in by far, when there is something to pick apart, real or imagined. It's all bad bad bad bad bad negative negative negative negative obvious obvious obvious, and for a long time tinfoil hat stuff from some big names. No wonder the fanbase gets wound up. That can, and will give the perception that a rift is there or coming. Tochetts supposedly come in and created a safe place within the dressing room to shut off the noise. Miller and Brock both recently said it was tough when their names kept coming up on the trade block, certainly don't think that's a great motivator. The finger pointing? Don't see that happening, see the local media working as hard as they can to fuck this up, for him and the team like usual: "Petey, what do you think you need to do to get out of your funk mentally, and what have you tried so far" "Petey why do you think it is that and what do you think you need to do to produce like you used too" "Petey do you like your linemate's and do you think (Tochett) is giving you one's goof enough" " Petey why do you think it is that you have stunk the past 30 games of the regular seasons and the playoffs?" paraphrased. As for if we did trade him, lol, he's not going to get us garbage back, we won't be retaining salary that's preposterous. Ilya Mikheyev hasn't scored in 30 games. Might as well make him a bad fourth liner because that's bad production from a 4th liner. Or is that Petey's fault? How many times, has be been set up by EP, in the slot, and fired the puck right into the goalies logo, no little fake, no top corner, no five hole or deke - it's like he's frozen and is just trying to get a rebound that never comes with those muffins. It's not all on him either, the best EP could bank them off Lafferty, Mikheyev or whomever. Meanwhile, Aho who plays a similar style game, is kicking ass, with Svecknikov and Guentzal. I bet, they'd consider a trade if they could straight up for EP if they can't beat NYR to help them push over the top. Would that be so terrible?
