  1. Passenger service where it makes sense re: Vegas - Los Angeles for example are a no brainer. Closer to home we will see further skytrain expansion but other than that limited in options as far as building and growing passenger service. The old BC Rail lines from North Vancouver north through Squamish could potentially offer something for inter Provincial travel. CN no longer runs freight regularly on the lines north of Squamish and even Squamish is very minimal in traffic. Most if any freight moving beyond Squamish is from detours re: the floods of a couple years ago as a secondary line or some hydro project supply or rail car storage. Versus when BC Rail was in full operation I think you could see much faster less delayed passenger service. As for freight, its not an issue that it takes priority as it is the money maker. The North shore of Vancouver is quite bottlenecked as you have essentially one access point for all freight entering and leaving the northshore being the rail bridge at the Iron Workers memorial bridge. Thats it. An immense level of traffic and industry from Chemtrade at the rail bridge west to the Lionsgate Bridge where CN's McLean yard is located. Add in the increase in shipping expected to cross under the rail bridge daily putting it out of commission for periods of time and that bottleneck will only tighten. Quite amazing really to see the thousands of rail cars daily entering and leaving the entire northshore from that one line.
  2. I think Hoglander and Mikheyev should be the wingers for Petey. Mikheyev and Hoglander can chase the puck down and get the puck. I'd like to see: Suter - Miller - Boeser Hoglander - Pettersson - Mikheyev Joshua - Lindholm - Garland Podkolzin - Blueger - Lafferty Then again not opposed to the same lineup from game 1, got the win end of the day.
  3. I think he like Myers even more, dilemma who ? both ? return to Vancouver ? After this season the biggest weakness is on defense.
  4. New Jersey Devils Round One Playoff Roster Ivan Barbashev - Pavel Zacha - Jonathan Marchessault Anthony Duclair - Sean Monahan - Alexis Lafreniere Warren Foegele - William Karlsson -Calle Jarnkrok James van Riemsdyk - Radek Faksa - Conor Sheary Jakub Lauko Oliver Ekman-Larsson - Alex Pietrangelo Jeremy Lauzon - Erik Gustafsson Ryan Lindgren - Nils Lundkvist Dylan Samberg - Trevor van Riemsdyk Jeremy Swayman Logan Thompson BLACK ACES: Cole Koepke, Georgi Merkulov, Oskar Steen, Wade Allison, Ryan McAllister, Justin Sourdif, Andrei Buyalsky, Riese Gaber, Brett Berard, Lucas Edmonds, Tuukka Tieksola, Marc Del Gaizo, Tobias Bjornfot, Ben Gleason, Santtu Kinuunen, Cam Dineen, Arvid Holm I believe this is another first round matchup with @da.moose's Washington Capitals. If so I expect it to be a battle right to the end. This year the Capitals have arguably the deepest Playoff roster and that team depth at all positions will be a challenge to beat out. Best of luck in round one!
  5. Montreal Canadiens Round One Playoff Roster! Alexis Lafreniere - Jack Eichel - Mitch Marner Nino Niederreiter - Chandler Stephenson - Anthony Duclair Evgeny Dadonov - Kiefer Sherwood - Kyle Okposo Andrew Cogliano - Brad Lambert - Oskar Steen Max Comtois K'andre Miller - Noah Dobson Ryan Pulock - Chris Tanev Mason Lohrei - Nils Lundkvist Marc Del Gaizo - Braden Schneider STARTER: Sergei Bobrovsky BACKUP: Logan Thompson BLACK ACES: Brennan Othmann, Fabian Lysell, Adam Edstrom, Santtu Kinuunen, Ryan Tverberg, Mac Hollowell, Jake Livingstone, Oskar Olausson, Andrei Buyalsky, Tuukka Tieksola, Ty Smith Best of luck to the Columbus Blue Jackets on our first round series, will be a battle ( I think this is the correct matchup haha )
  6. Still blown away how this just happened after years of crap by all sides trying to save a failed experiment. Still a fail. You can name multiple other suitors to take the Coyotes that have NHL ready facilities. Utah will see years of trying to nail down then build their arena. By then the NHL in its insanity will have offered a new expansion opportunity to the Arizona market while probably adding in Atlanta as well. Will be a 34 team league with more instability in Arizona and Atlanta all over again while Salt Lake tries to build their new rink. Meanwhile Quebec will continue to be ignored.
  7. Thanks dude! She had a blast this year, so proud of the work she has put into her dance from solos, duos, group pieces to ballet, tap, contemporary, acro, hip hop, you name it. Was a great dance competition weekend with hundreds of entries, friendships, fun, and fantastic experiences all round. That said, I am available after tonight to continue with contract negotiations etc.
  8. Cole is better, brings so much more to the team without a doubt. That being said yes he has put a ton of miles on his body and will likely sit a couple games to wrap up the regular season. Not so much an indictment of him, but use this time to get him a little fresher and a guy like Juulsen a little more game sharp.
  9. HEADS UP! RE: Free Agents, Hey everyone, I will be tied up with my kid's dance now through to Monday as she has competitions out of town in Fort Langley. I will look to work on contract negotiations as windows of time present themselves otherwise will be readily available come end of day Monday. So if you have any discussions ongoing that is why I may be absent. Thanks
  10. Dallas is second in the entire league in goals for. They have the offense.
  11. I don't see a scenario where Myers signs for under $ 4m per even if it is in Vancouver. Maybe the Canucks extend both he and Zadorov, their defense is thin otherwise.
  12. Clear hold on Garland hindering him but why would you call that? Oh and again, PUT THE LINES BACK TO WHAT THEY WERE WHEN SUCCESSFUL!!!!!
  13. EXTENSION: The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed defenseman Lassi Thomson to a two year contract extension. Lassi Thomson: $ 2.0 million dollar contract ( $ 1,000,000.00 per season )
  14. please check back in and refer to the " Dates to Remember " on page one of the thread. If memory serves me right, we are allowed to discuss and extend pending UFA/RFA players up to a date usually right before July 1st, then there is a window of several days to get your offers in on UFAs for the upcoming UFA window that opens around July 4th or in that range. Will have dates provided as soon as available
  15. EXTENSION: The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Alex Barre-Boulet to a two year contract extension. Alex Barre-Boulet: $ 2.0 million dollar contract ( $ 1,000,000.00 per season )
  16. EXTENSION: The New York Rangers have signed forward Yegor Chinakhov to a two year contract extension. Yegor Chinakhov: $ 7.0 million dollar contract ( $ 3,500,000.00 per season )
  17. EXTENSION: The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed defenseman Nick Seeler to a four year contract extension. Nick Seeler: $ 10.0 million dollar contract ( $ 2,500,000.00 per season )
  18. EXTENSION: The Chicago Blackhawks have signed goaltender Filip Gustavsson to a three year contract extension. Filip Gustavsson: $ 11.25 million dollar contract ( $ 3,750,000.00 per season )
  19. EXTENSION: The Florida Panthers have signed forward Beck Malenstyn to a one year contract extension. Beck Malenstyn: $ 900 thousand dollar contract ( $ 900,000.00 per season )
  20. 110% agreed and I can't handle the forward lines all mixed up. I don't understand why we aren't seeing the forward lines that worked so well before.
  21. Nothing wrong with discussing this, does not indict someone as a bigot or phobe for talking about it. If someone has an issue with something, is uncomfortable or asks questions then it should be something people respect and take seriously. After all this IS what society is teaching. Again, this would deserve a discussion and can be a teachable moment for anyone involved to better figure out how to make something work for everyone moving forward. Simple garbage response, these kind of replies and labels are why things devolve, too many people try to shut others up by attacking who they are or name calling rather than discussing or even debating things. Very disappointing aspect of society today. This is true, maybe some educational discussions and in general people coming together to work out and talk about their concerns or help others understand things can be helpful.
  22. Honestly and I guess it is part of coaching to blend the lines when there are players not playing their games but this coaching staff really needs to go back to the lines that worked earlier in the season and when Lindholm returns put him in the top six on a line with Petey and Hoglander. Lindholm never should have been playing 3rd line minutes and while I know the coach could not resist the temptation of playing a top centre on the third line thus flexing his depth at the position it was questionable ( from a nobody fan perspective and observation ). But I feel Joshua/Garland/Blueger need to be reunited and time would have been better spent getting Lindholm and Petey to gel on a line. Not to mention, I am sure Lindholm is happy to join the Canucks and play in the Playoffs, what killed the chance Vancouver could re-sign him was playing him down the lineup from his position and role basically anywhere else in the league if he joined other clubs.
