  1. Lindholm is the better faceoff player, better special teams option and has shown throughout his career to produce higher totals offensively. Canucks will be just fine.
  2. I call BS. Yes the cap is going up so people may be surprised at some deals being signed at a higher looking cap number starting next season but those numbers will over 2-3 seasons look fairly comfortable as a fan looking at team payrolls etc. A fair number would be the $ 55 million over 8 years, giving him a cap hit of $ 6.875m per. $7m - $7.25m I could see but nothing flirting with Hughes number.
  3. Sorry who got stuck with anything ? Firstly Pius Suter is the Swiss army knife of forwards, he is a luxury to have signed to a multi year deal under two million per season. He has shown at every NHL city he has played in he can play top six minutes, be a clutch scorer and can be streaky. Playing further down the lineup throughout his career he has been quite reliable in all situations. PP, PK, top six, bottom six. Suter's signing was a very clean piece of business by this management group. Ok, so there is the ole hindsight argument about Lindholm, Monahan, Toffoli ? At the time of the Lindholm trade, he was the top player on what ? 95% of NHL trade boards. Not a big cap number but not something Vancouver could absorb without moving off a roster player sure. Lindholm was a familiar player to this management group, a top six centre who while providing production can play PP, PK and is a massive upgrade on faceoffs, positional play. He was a solid addition and most fans were thrilled he ended up in Vancouver. I believe it was a mistake to play him third line centre though you can see why a coach would do this. There is zero intention of NOT going back to Joshua/Blueger/Garland as the third line once Joshua returns so you need to play Lindholm in your top six. Frankly the even-strength lines need to be ( I suspect they will be soon ) and remain to gel as: Hoglander - Lindholm - Pettersson Mikheyev - Miller - Boeser Joshua - Blueger - Garland Podkolzin - Suter - Lafferty Anyways, also remember when Lindholm was acquired, when the Canucks were looking to get ahead of possible bidding wars etc on players he would have been the preferred player versus Monahan by a landslide. I am a fan of Monahan but I was ripped for suggesting it here lol. You also have to take into account that the Devils were not shopping or listening on Toffoli until right before the deadline as the Devils were in the mix. He was not an option earlier on and the Canucks did not have the assets or cap space by the deadline so he was a non starter as much as he had prior chemistry with Vancouver years ago. The Canucks are not stuck with anyone here. They made a shrewd signing bringing in Suter for two years to play ANYWHERE up and down the lineup as needed. Vancouver prioritized the centre position and went after the top trade target available, has it worked out ? he has not hurt the club in any way, we all just want to see some offensive bite to his game and that production to trend upwards. I am betting it will after he gets settled in the top six.
  4. His representation will be fielding interest from around the league at $ 4m+ per. If he wants to remain in Vancouver I could see them going as high as the $ 4m range. Either way it will take that range to bring he or Zadorov back.
  5. I would like the team to secure deals on Blueger and Cole of their pending UFAs. I think Joshua carries risk with a $ 3m + caphit. He has had a strong showing this season after starting ill-prepared for the season and being a healthy scratch, that has to be taken into account when looking at a new contract. Which, the Canucks seem quite calculated and prepared in their negotiations. This will be the contract Joshua tries to make bank if you look at his age and roles up to now, that may in the end be too much for Vancouver to invest in. Remember we all screamed at the Canucks for signing Beagle, Roussel and so on for bottom six roles at higher than bottom six prices, let's not fall into the same situation here.
  6. I think this year has been quite special and developing into a true contender or not I can see a little reduction in the teams point totals. If anything more so because they are not surprising anyone any more. In terms of the personnel, I am not convinced the team will have a dramatic step backwards in terms of letting some guys go. I can see Joshua getting paid elsewhere and one of Myers or Zadorov going elsewhere. The team will have the following expiring contracts at around $ 30 million in value: F Elias Lindholm F Sam Lafferty------------------Raty at 837k per ??? F Teddy Blueger ----------------extend for 3 years x 2.5m range F Vasily Podkolzin --------------extend for 1.15m per range F Dakota Joshua---------------Bains at 817k per ??? D Mark Friedman---------------Brisebois at 775k per ??? D Filip Hronek-------------------extend for 7m per range D Tyler Myers D Ian Cole----------------------extend for 2.5m per range D Nikita Zadorov---------------extend for 4m per range G Casey DeSmith leaves the team with around 10m+ to fill another forward, defense, and a back up and all three could be filled from within the organization. Maybe they decide to pay for Joshua costing around $ 3m per. Maybe DeSmith comes back around 2m per and Myers or Zadorov, one will be back around 4m per at least. I think the team will be just fine.
  7. He is due a new contract and he is playing in a third line role where his offensive numbers have been stifled. Yes he is an awesome centre, he is killing it in the faceoff circle and he is really helping the Canucks with his depth BUT, there is zero intention to keep Lindholm where he is when Joshua returns as that third line the Canucks have is with no bias here one of the top 3rd lines in the league. So why continue to prevent growth and chemistry for Lindholm in the top six at his stage ? top six is where he belongs and will be anyways with Joshua's return. For the team it has helped having Lindholm as a third line centre but overall it has been a misuse of a top six asset. There is no secret in building your forward lines in duos, Boeser & Miller, Pettersson & Lindholm. No brainer. Add Mikheyev/Suter with Miller and Boeser, Hoglander with Petey and Lindholm. I would be of the assumption there is no chance Lindholm is extended, that might have been different had he continued in a top six role and developed chemistry there but he is not given an opportunity here to play top six minutes in a meaningful role and looking at his face he doesn't look super happy out there. Was a good bet and I am not saying he won't prove vital come Playoff time as he will be, but I think the team to a degree pooched the opportunity that was here to get him in a groove and have him enjoy success in the top six thus giving him some incentive to extend. Should have provided incentive for bottom six guys to play on that third line while Joshua was out all the while having Lindholm gelling in the top six.
  8. RECALLED: The New Jersey Devils have recalled defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk from Atlantic city and place him onto the active roster
  9. INJURED RESERVE: The New Jersey Devils have placed forward Calle Jarnkrok on Injured Reserve. * as per "Injuries" tsn.ca.
  10. I am helping with agent duties if anyone needs a hand there.
  11. This. I believe the " report " is BS. That Hronek is unhappy or a deal was rejected falls into " Canucks frustrated Pettersson not coming to the table " and " Pettersson rejected a higher dollar amount earlier on " kind of crap. Hronek as an RFA will be extended l9nger term in Vancouver. He has found personal success and team success being in Vancouver. Can be a part of a long successful window here. Zero doubt he gets signed and for a good dollar. I think $ 55 over 8 years gets it done, if its in the low 7's still worth it. You don't trade a righty offensive dman who plays with some snarl and entering his prime. No way.
  12. One of Myers or Zadorov comes back on multi year deal around 4m per. Cole could be retained on a one or two year x 2.5m range per.
  13. Messier was one if the best players in the NHL. That doesn't get erased because he signed a major contract in Vancouver and played less involved on the ice in the twilight of his career. He was a major win for the team and the development of some of those young Canucks. Linden was a great leader in Vancouver, saw the team bring in one of the greatest leaders in the game and made a call on relinquishing his Captaincy, a mistake on Linden's part. Keenan pushed Linden out literally. Not Messier. The late Wayne Maki having his number used? Well that is the unfortunate part but in the end money talks ( I have long argued that numbers should stay in circulation, yes hang a Smyl jersey from the rafters, retire Smyl 12 but keep the numbers in circulation ). Messier was not all bad and its a tiresome argument or narrative to carry forward. You just need to ask NHL people who worked with or played with him in Vancouver to know he had value and helped this franchise. Its ok to not like him, but its getting old. Its the same as Marchand haters or people who think the Bruins and their fans are garbage or classless. Not the case, again tiresome. Move on.

  15. Devils at the Deadline! The New Jersey Devils were busy leading up to and during those last few minutes before the clock struck midnight on another trading season. I'd like to thank my fellow GMs for your time here, whether working on trades in depth with solid back n forth or a simple " f%#@ off Mike! ". All is appreciated. The Devils have been at or near the top of the Eastern Conference and League standings throughout the year. Higher than we projected going into the season. We spent hours spinning our wheels trying to manufacture tradeable assets or at least the illusion of. Its never an easy move to trade away the prospect level assets but this game is about winning. Every team has cycles and I respect the more patient or disciplined GMs here and how they operate. But this guy is just restructuring and stretching if not building a new window to compete. all that said, we are very excited to bring in the following players leading up to the deadline: F Anthony Duclair F Alexis Lafreniere F David Perron F Radek Faksa F Warren Foegele F Conor Sheary F Justin Sourdif F Brett Berard F Wade Allison D Dylan Samberg D Jeremy Lauzon D Ryan Lindgren G Jeremy Swayman This year will be another exciting year in the Playoffs ( never missed the post season btw ) and looking more and more like we will be lining up to play the Capitals. @da.moose is one of our top GMs year in and year out. Seeing his club's moves leading up to the deadline, will be no surprise that as a round one series things will go down to the wire. Best of luck to all our member clubs moving forward, those in the Playoff picture or otherwise.
  16. Big thank you to everyone involved in Trade Deadline Day. Was a lot if fun these past couple of weeks leading up to the deadline. @canuck2xtreme Awesome job as always, extremely thankful for all the hours and work you put in. Ive helped at times along the way with the behind the scenes work, simply blows my mind how you can tackle that workload and make it look easy. @Relyt Krets thanks for eating up a ton of your time working on trade clauses, contract related work and all while being busy with real life and your workload in fantasy hockey abroad!
  17. IR ACTIVATION & ASSIGNED: The New Jersey Devils have activated defenseman Tobis Bjornfot from Injured Reserve and assign him to Atlantic city.
  18. RECALLED: The New Jersey Devils have recalled defenseman Nils Lundkvist from Atlantic city and place him onto the active roster
  19. WAIVERS: The New Jersey Devils have placed defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk on Waivers for the purpose of assignment to Atlantic city temporarily.
  20. IR ACTIVATION: The New Jersey Devils have activated forward Calle Jarnkrok from Injured Reserve and place him onto the active roster
  21. Coaches need to go back to what worked and the players need to keep their feet moving ffs. This reset on the PP snd its personnel are killing what should be opportunity and momentum in a game.
  22. TRADE REPORT: The New Jersey Devils have been very busy over the past several days fielding and making calls. The team has added some Playoff depth and a few transactions have taken place. One player whom has been inquired about by a few clubs is superstar Alex Ovechkin. Yes we will explore trade options involving Alex, moving him is not a must but we are entertaining some scenarios where he may move on. He is signed two more seasons and by the conclusion of his contract should by all accounts be the NHL alltime goal scoring leader. The Devils are flexible in terms of salary retention and getting creative to make a deal work if there are further interested parties. We will keep discussions on all assets ongoing today/tonight. Tomorrow being deadline day we will be sporadically available as the day will include much travel. Lets work on some deals!
  23. ASSIGNED: The New Jersey Devils have assigned defenseman Nils Lundkvist to Atlantic city.
