  1. Sound assessment of his game, I would agree. But does that fit the narrative here ? haha
  2. Maybe just the quiet nature of his body language etc but he really doesn't very often show emotion or get riled up. Not something as an armchair fan that I have a good read on. But he seems to get a ton of hate here and its annoying if not disappointing to regularly see the crap people post about him. Has been a top GWG producer in the league all year so thats not something to take for granted. What I would love is to stop screwing with the lines. Its exhausting and frustrating to watch. Mikheyev - Miller - Boeser Hoglander - Lindholm- Pettersson Joshua - Blueger - Garland PDG - Suter - Lafferty Aman Mikheyev looked like a solid fit and style in the Miller line. Get that swedish line time to gel and the 3rd line is solid. Having Suter and Lafferty on the 4th line shows great depth.
  3. Winning against any NHL club is an achievement. The garbage argument or suggestion certain teams the Canucks win against as a nothing win or over exaggerating a loss vs other certain teams is just lame. The Canucks will finish this season a top 5 team in the entire league, will win their division and start the Playoffs on home ice. Enjoy the ride, celebrate regular season accomplishments and potential award winners. Don't take any of this stuff for granted.
  4. The games do change as the season goes on and things tend to tighten up. I don't know if it is a matter of the opposition closing their gaps on the likes of Hronek and Hughes for example but they both don't seem to be able to get that extra open ice. Hronek has less time to get positioned and take a slapper so ends up frequently dumping the puck or wristing it towards the net. He has a powerful accurate shot and needs to be able to get it off. Hughes does not have that explosiveness he did earlier on when he could fake one way and jet up ice out of his zone with the puck, he has guys on him and speed matching regularly. He also is overhandling the puck and skating circles sometimes into danger zones or low percentage plays rather than the smart play or easier direct pass. It is getting a little frustrating or cringeworthy as a fan to see but awesome when it works out haha. But back to Hronek, the Canucks invested a lot into bringing him here and as much as some are saying don't pay him and instead trade him it is almost comical as before he arrived what was the number one need for this club ? thats right a righty, top four, productive defenseman. Well Vancouver got Hronek and I would argue one of the better trades or examples of asset management by this group thus far. I truly don't think some people watch his game or appreciate what he can bring, I mean there is a lot of assumption that he is not a great defender, is soft or one dimensional. I really believe that is not accurate at all. He shows to play with an edge, he doesn't back down and he can really move the puck. I believe the Canucks identified him as a trade target early on and pushed the idea when the player was otherwise not a realistic trade option on the market. When you see the cap potential to rise year after year again here, yes he could be paid a number close to Hughes let's say 7.5m per on a lengthy deal. That is very fair considering any years he is under contract after say the next two ? like Miller that number looks better every year later.
  5. I think with Quinn having a breakout season this year and really pushing into another level both defensively and offensively he for the first 3 quarters of the season was without a doubt the consensus top defenseman league wide. I think overall Makar is a better defenseman, seems very close but I would give him the edge. What kind of drives me nuts is the ability Hughes has to carry the puck, make dangles and shake off opposing players but he gets almost scatter-brained out there doing too many fakes and spins to the point as the season has gone on and teams are getting a better book on him he is skating into lower percentage plays or losing the puck. You can also see his energy levels dropped a peg too. Where as the first half of the season anyone who is anyone in the league and media was talking about his game, the insanity of his defensive takeaways and recoveries on top of his offensive game. He needs to be more direct and purposeful with his puck carrying and stop passing up shots or initial pass attempts for longer puck carries and stickhandling. All that said, I think Hughes has produced a Norris season this year. Makar and Josi are right there but what Hughes did for the better part of the season and how far ahead he was from his peers can't be taken for granted. I feel he is getting tired and holding onto the puck too long as the regular season winds down and I would hope the coaching staff can speak for him like it or not and reduce his minutes for even the last few games. He really needs a boost.
  6. I would suggest unless its a number retired by the NHL like Gretzky's then every number should remain in circulation. You hang the jersey or banner up with the player & number but you keep the numbers in circulation. You can honor the greats. Would love to see a player wearing any one of those numbers, no reason not to. Its one of those things where people keep kicking the can down the road " oh we don't need to worry about running out of numbers " etc, short sighted. Why not have a player say Lekkerimaki comes in and wants to wear number 10. Why not ? getting forced to pick a number in the 70s, 80s, 90s lol is lame. Naslund, I think he gets in because he was a captain and produced points but those other players showed so much more to me.
  7. I believe people are barking up the wrong tree if they think the Canucks are moving Silovs. He is highly thought of in the organization and they are heavily investing in him. I would argue he is one of the top prospects this team has and won't budge on. Remember DeSmith has played well which has been great, he could even be extended here sure but the team is looking to bring in younger players from their system moving forward. You will see some UFAs extend here. My bet would be Blueger, one of Zadorov/Myers and likely Cole.
  8. GML AGENT UPDATE Update for the group here, again thank you to @Relyt Krets for all of your time here and your high quality of work in your expanded roles here. At this time here is an update on the current agent availability as we wrap up the regular season and head into the off season. Please contact the following Agents if you require Standard Player Contract " extensions " for any of your pending UFA/RFA needs: Lethunder Mike Vanderhoek * please note, depending on workload on a case by case basis agents Sergei Bobrovsky and ThatMike may be made available to assist. Please contact agent ThatMike if you are looking to sign one of your drafted players in your system to an Entry Level Contract. Thank you everybody for your time here!
  9. Accrued cap is calculated by days on the roster. You divide the player's caphit by total days in season ( 192 ) which hives you your daily caphit. To calculate accrued cap simply multiply daily cap x days on roster.
  10. I stand corrected, my apologies I did not read the correct information regarding jail time which is not the case.
  11. My apologies, I thank you for finding this article. I thought I had read this as correct prior on top of reading the case of the father in B.C. who was jailed for not acknowledging his transitioning child's pronouns which was later deemed to be him being jailed for continuing to speak after a court gag order. Thanks for your correction @Satchmo
  12. Sorry not at all. A Canadian can be fined or jailed for refusing to use a persons preferred pronouns. It is considered criminal as it has been determined by law to be human rights discrimination. A business owner was fined $ 30,000.00 for his employees not referring to another by their pronouns on multiple occasions. An American can be arrested for inciting a criminal act through speech, otherwise is free to say as they please legally. Canadian parents start being limited in their parental rights as their child reaches the age of 14 years old. Arguably a time when our children may require parental support, guidance and stability at its highest form.
  13. I think it is fair and ok to discuss parent's rights and if they indeed do have all the rights and supports they need in Canada.
  14. I mean end of the day in a competition people will compete against each other and transitioned or not someone has to come out on top. There appears to be a couple dozen cases where a transgender person has won a competition and the question of fairness has been raised due to the suggested advantage of a male versus female in sport. It is not always quite as simple as male versus female as many institutions have in place time frames where trans persons have to be on for example hormone therapies etc before competing to lower testosterone levels and other for example. So while the question of fairness is raised and is legitimate, there are already some policies in place to help lessen any advantages and it should be noted that such policies are waiting on more scientific data and studies to fine tune this.
  15. We do not have freedom of speech in Canada. We have a law against hate speech which can now be a criminal offence to not acknowledge and call someone by their preferences. The US has freedom of speech. Canada doesn't even have parental rights, crazy world we live in.
  16. I would think a lot of females competing would or should care. Some can lose not only competitions but education and financial opportunities by losing to a trans person. As was said it is not really fair.
  17. EXTENSION: The Arizona Coyotes have signed forward Mark Jankowski to a two year contract extension. Mark Jankowski: $ 1.77 million dollar contract ( $ 885,000.00 per season )
  18. Thank you for all your time here, having the time to properly GM your club is one thing, but the added roles and time you have given is very much appreciated, thanks so much for that. Just a reminder to teams, I will be available to help with agent duties and will get on the same page as the agent group, provide an update on whom is available and active in agent group in a post here in short order. Thanks again @Relyt Krets!
  19. This is awesome! I never take for granted the banners teams can win, a lot of fans act like the players speak ( "haven't won any thing yet" or " we have bigger goals this season " ). We get it but it has been an amazing season, winning any of the regular season banners by the end of the season is a major accomplishment on its own. Then push for the ultimate prize.
  20. After the trade deadline there is no roster limits
  21. Different management group at the time. Confidence in PA/JR to be more shrewd and ensure they make more responsible deals. As it stands now Hronek should be jumping on $ 6.875m per on a new deal, if the team has to up that number anywhere closer to $ 7.5m per that would definitely start being uncomfortable. You likely see Cole back at around $ 2.5m and then its a saw off between Zadorov and Myers coming back in the $ 4m+ per range. If Myers wants term he goes to FA, if Zadorov wants $5m+ per he goes to FA.
  22. He is a solid defenseman absolutely. The coaching staff have shown more confidence in Cole and Myers to this point and the latter Tocchet absolutely loves.
  23. He has averaged less than 18 mins a game in 7 of the 11 years in his career thus far. His 3rd lowest ATOI in his career has been this year in Vancouver AT 17:02 which puts him in 6th place among Canucks defensemen. If he is asking for $ 5m per on a multi year deal I just don't see it. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
