He wasn't one of the 12 black aces that got called up when Abby was eliminated. For that matter, it doesn't look like Hirose was either (while Cicek, Irwin, Wolamin and McWard all were). I can't see Tocchet playing Hirose on his defence anymore than I could have seen him playing Johansson.

Trade Hronek to get our 1st round pick+ back, then sign Tanev to play with Hughes. That's got to be the way we go!

Z.'s recent play made me curious to look back at the scouting reports on him before he was drafted. Here's one small snippet of what I found. It seems to have predicted his current and future development to a T. We cannot let him go, because I think we are just now seeing the beginning of him becoming the dominant, all-around D man that he's always had the potential to be: THN Draft Preview: At the risk of ridiculousness by bringing up Zdeno Chara (the towering gem and former Isles pick against whom all tall prospects are absurdly measured), the pre-draft language on Zadorov remind you of what they said about a young Chara: "Should be solid, but if he develops, man, look out."

Not only were we not part of the draft lottery, we'll barely even be part of the draft! Not much for us to be watching it for this year, except possibly to hear Mr. Bettman say, "We have a trade....."

Maybe thinking more that they might want to use him at some point instead of PDG. In the end though, I think the only thing that kept PDG in the lineup over Podz is that fact that PDG is a regular penalty killer and Podz isn't (not that Podz probably couldn't do this just as well or better though).

I have to say, I found it infuriating and embarassing at the same time.

I noticed that too. He was taking repeated one-timers in practice the day before last game. But in the games themselves, he keeps passing up the opportunity to take these shots. If it's an injury, I'm not sure why he's taking so many of these shots in practice, but none anymore in games.

There seems to be no such thing as injury updates regarding Abby players.

All I can say is he better be playing injured.
