  2. ACTIVATION: Pending trade Toronto calls up G Erik Portillo.
  3. TOP 10 PLAYERS 25 & UNDER: THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS EDITION Sitting dead last in the NHL the Vancouver Canucks are in shambles. Or are they?... Things may look bad now, but this team is on the verge of a quick turn around with the young talent they have. We may need a bigger list for this team! #1 - F Jack Hughes (22) After finishing last season just 1 point shy of 100pts, Jack started the 2023-24 season right where he left off. At one point it seemed as if he was the best player in the NHL. Then injuries took their toll. Even though he has missed a lot of games he's still averaging over a point per game, and is still looking to be the generational talent we all thought he would be. Vancouver is lucky to have such a young talent to build around as they try and capture their 1st ever Stanley Cup! #2 - D Simon Nemec (20) The former #2 overall pick is living up to his expectations. as a 20 year old rookie in the NHL he has put up 15pts in 35 games, and is showing fans he is the player they hoped he would be. He's one of the best prospects in the game, and he's a right handed Dman. Those are hard to come by, and Vancouver has 2 of the better RHD prospects in the game. Which leads us to our #3 guy on Vancouver. #3 - D David Jiricek (20) Even though things have started off a little rough for Jiricek as a rookie, there is no denying his talent. Jiricek is one of the best D prospects in the game, and Vancouver fans are going to love this guy. Having him and Nemec manning the right side of their top 4 is going to be a treat to watch. Can't wait for these guys to get going. #4 - G Yaroslav Askarov (21) Askarov is one of, if not the absolute best goalie prospects in all of hockey. He has been living up to the hype so far, and seems primed to start his NHL career as soon as next season. His biggest hurdle being Saros & the Preds. Once he breaks through that wall he is going to be Vancouvers #1 goalie for years to come. Binnington days might be over quicker than we imagined. #5 - D Olen Zellweger (20) We have already seen the 2 headed monster on the right side, but they also have a 2 headed monster on the left. Olen Zellweger is destined to be the Canucks go to offensive Dman for years to come. A true puck moving Defenseman that will likely be quarterbacking the PP1 for years to come. #6 - G Carl Lindbom (20) After being drafted in the 7th round by the Vegas Golden Knights in 2021 Carl has done nothing but make them proud. He has put up some godly numbers in the SHL, and the only thing that seems to have a chance of stopping him from having a long successful NHL career is his small 6'0 frame.. However he has the talent to overcome that. The sky is the limit with this kid. #7 - D Mikhail Gulyayev (18) Mikhail Gulyayev, or as GMG likes to call him, "The Russian Hughes" (referencing his similarities to Quinn Hughes), is the 2nd part of that 2 headed monster on the left side of this VERY deep core of Canuck prospects. Gulyayev has all the tools in the world to take the spot many see Zellweger holding for years to come. Will be interesting to see how that plays out over the years. Olen Zellweger - Simon Nemec Mikhail Gulyayev - David Jiricek Now that's a scary looking top 4 assuming they all pan out! #8 - F Jordan Dumais (19) Undersized phenom Jordan Dumais will soon be moving across the country to Vancouver. Some think this kid has elite talent, some feel his size will hold him back. Will be someone to follow next season for sure. GMG isn't usually a fan of prospects coming out of the QMJHL, but he has a different feeling about this kid. Could be Jack's future winger. #9 F Dylan Holloway (22) Former 1st round pick of the Edmonton Oilers, Dylan has all the potential in the world, and has a very high chance of being 1 of McDavid and/or Draisitl's future winger. The piggy back points alone sky rocket this young man's value, and that's ignoring his obvious skill set. He has been lights out in the AHL level, but hasn't quite broken out of his shell in the big. He is a major breakout candidate going into the 2024-25 season for sure. #10 - F David Goyette (19) Averaging almost 2pts per game in the OHL, this former 2nd rounder is one of the Canucks more intriguing prospects. Will be interesting to see how well his game translates to the pro level. If things go well next year we may see him shoot up these rankings. Him being #9 on the list just goes to show you how deep this Canucks prospect pool is! HONORABLE MENTIONS F Peyton Krebs F Oliver Wahlstrom F Nick Lardis F Roman Kantserov (19) F Bradley Nadeau (18) F Josh Nadeau (20) G Yaniv Perets (23) F Sean Farrell (22) F David Edstrom (19) F Amadeus Lombardi (20) F Aatu Raty (21) F Ville Koivunen (20) D Caden Price (18) F Noah Dower Nilsson (18) F Liam Dower Nilsson (20)

  6. EXTENSION The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed D Scott Perunovich to a contract extension. Duration: 1 year AAV: $1.9M
  7. When did Grundstrom change careers?.. Didn't think he was much of a tech guy
  8. We have had a few teams reach out with interest in Connor Ingram over the last month or so, but haven't really gotten an offer we feel good about to move on from the #1 goalie of the up and coming Coyotes squad. Goalies are hard to come by, and I may just be better off keeping him. However if I get a deal that I feel increases my immediate cup odds enough we may be willing to move on. At this time Ingram is truly my only sure thing goaltender in the system, so I'm understandably a bit hesitant to move him lol I'm not looking for a Kyle Connor type return, but a solid playoff piece or 2, and maybe a pick or 2 (depending on playoff pieces being offered) should get the job done. Not in any rush to move him, and may decide to just hang onto him.. But if you're a team that's been struggling to lock down a legit #1 goalie this could be your chance to pounce on an opportunity!

  18. The Toronto Maple Leafs have made a BIG move yesterday to try and help put them over the top this year. Hearing Dawson Mercer and Alex Holtz were moved in the deal! R. Smith - N. 19. Just 24 hours after putting out the annual GFL survey I'm proud to say we have received 13/30 submissions so far! Appreciate the fast response by yall, and your answers will help the league move in a positive direction! The more that participate the better. The reason this survey was put out so early this year is because there is currently a major rework going on fixing a lot of the holes that were in a very rushed CBA, and we want to hear your opinions to help us determine the direction we want to go with a few rule changes. There are a lot of good changes coming in year 2 that I think a lot of you will like. Appreciate each and every one of you. Overall it's been a very good season despite a few bumpy patches early on. Here's to more great seasons in the future! Also want to give a HUGE shout out to @Relyt Krets.. I know yall see the hard work this man has been putting in for GFL, and I could not be anymore grateful to have him help me run things. Thank you for the work you do sir. I think I can speak for everyone when I say we very much appreciate everything you do!
