Replacing Zadorov with Tanev makes the team weaker overall. Sure, Tanev is a really smart and calm player who thinks the defensive side of the game extremely well. So is Soucy though, and he's already under contract. Tanev is nearing 35, still totally injury prone, and way smaller and less imposing than Zadorov. No need to spend assets on a defenseman who's skill set is already covered.
