Vrana is a year removed from leaving the team for personal reasons and entering the player assistance program. Upon returning Stevie Y didn't want him anywhere near the team and ended up retaining 50% after nobody would take him for free on waivers.

 

I'm not going to shame anybody for getting help but it must have been pretty bad for Yzerman to take that stand early in a season.

I think somebody that identifies the need to look for help is on the road to recovery.  Giving him a fresh start may be what he needs.

It'd be a bit of a gamble up front but I think Petey could drive that line and I'm sure Phil would be motivated to succeed, dude just wants to keep playing

 

Worst comes to worst he's off the books at the end of the year 

 

Defence would be better tho

I wouldn't claim a struggling forward that costs 2.6 in cap space. I would try to pry a pick off that team if they want to unload him. Or at least move back cap as well.

i dont see it happening... waivers doesnt work like that..., if a team that 4th in the league sees value in vrana, so would the 28 other teams before them... no shot they would drop to us...
