spook007 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 S/O a pretty good summery of this game... at least they got 1 point, which is as much as they deserved... definitely a step behind most of the game. DeSmith and the D core fine... 3rd line decent too... Top 2 lines pretty much a dogs breakfast and Kuz was lazy Hopefully a good sleep and then ready for tomorrows game in Chicago... get a win there and its already a successful road trip. Onwards and upwards. 2 Quote

Popular Post Dr. Crossbar Posted December 16, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 16, 2023 As long as we get points when DeSmith plays, we're good. 1 7 1 Quote

DownUndaCanuck Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Ugly game, tight checking, good defence by both teams, we didn't suck but our stars just couldn't break through which is disappointing considering they were without their top defencemen. Petey was average as he has been for a while but did generate some chances, just not much control. Mikheyev had a superb performance, was winning a lot of puck battles, good drives and drew a penalty. Lafferty looked like he had good jump but not much else. I would have really liked Hoglander to swap with Lafferty, and put Lafferty with Miller and Boeser. Miller and Boeser were invisible tonight, not for a lack of trying but they just got completely stifled. Garland, Joshua and Blueger with another strong performance and great goal. Suter was pretty invisible, Kuzmenko didn't do much either. On defence Hughes didn't look too great, he got stepped around twice by forwards on the rush which isn't nice to see and had so many shot attempts blocked. Good to see him shooting but he just couldn't get them through the Wild tight defence. Hronek had an alright game, was victimised a couple of times defensively. Zadorov and Myers were a bit above average, didn't make too many mistakes or get caught out apart from the Goligoski chance at the end which was brutal. I thought Juulsen had a pretty solid, strong performance to be honest - no glaring mistakes, some good rushes up the ice and good passes and got out of his own zone well which was difficult all night long. Obviously DeSmith was lights-out, deserved better. Ugly, yucky game but our PP really lost us the game as did our stars. Can blame this on Petey, Miller, Hughes and Boeser. They weren't bad, just not good enough to break the Minnesota defence. They zipped it around nicely on the PP but had no decent shots or finish and that sums it up, and it's fitting that they all stunk it up in the shootout. 2 1 Quote

Popular Post Smashian Kassian Posted December 16, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 16, 2023 A total slog that came down to the skills contest. The positive is this is the kind of game we would've been pushed around & overwhelmed in previous years, and we weren't. The Canucks won their battles & had their looks. The negative is it's a game you need a PP goal & they couldn't cash. Another negative is how many times they messed up clears & couldn't get it out. Overall weird start time, getting the PT was important. Onto tomorrow & hopefully a response. 4 1 Quote
Rocket-68 Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Win lose or draw, I always root for this team ... just a bit more effort and could have got the extra point either in regulation or in OT. 1 1 1 Quote
DownUndaCanuck Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Still only 3 points off the top of the league and somehow we're still a +40 compared to Vegas' +29 is wild. I know there were a couple of early season blowouts in there but at least we're managing our losses now. 1 Quote

Dom Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Afternoon game, outshot the Wild, still managed a point. Can't be too upset about that. Of course all the trolls come out LOL. 3 1 Quote
KoreanHockeyFan Posted December 16, 2023 Posted December 16, 2023 Not mad at the result. We were on a 4 game win streak and greased out a point. Managed the loss. 2 Quote
