As it stands right now (not quite half way) we should have 3 x 100pt players this year (Miller, Hughes and Petey) AND have as many as 8 x 20 goal scorers (JT, QH, Petey, BB, Mikheyev, Hogs, Lafferty & Joshua...and - sore spot for many - could be 9 with Kuzzy getting back in the lineup, or his replacement in a trade).

This shows that rare balance between top end talent and support scoring that we have missed for 8+ years. I believe that the record for 20 goal seasons still sits with the Bruins back in the early 70's (they had 11)...so to have 8 or 9 PLUS three guys with 100pts...I mean WOW!

Now, I hope I didn't just jinx it.

Would definitely be the high water mark for individual stats in Canucks history if we had three 100 point players, never mind one of the few 100 point defensemen in NHL history...when nobody had even scored 65 points from the blueline before Hughes.  Yeah the record was eleven 20 goal scorers for Don Cherry.  He broke it down in one of his Rock Em Sock Ems, said something like you need everybody on your top three lines to score twenty, plus a fourth liner and a defenseman.  Although some teams like the 80s Flames had at least three defensemen at once capable of scoring 20.  Four if you count Rob Ramage but he was a little too old to still do it by then.

92/93 set a high water mark for goals.   For sure you need all lines contributing, and goal support from your defense as well.    Without checking, pretty sure we scored 346 goals, which surpassed anything we managed in the 80's (although we actually had our best power plays then, stood up to even the Oilers once or twice), a huge part of that was Nedved scoring 38 goals, often on the third line and little power play time.

Ok checked...We were fourth in the league for goals scored that year, had 4 30 plus goal scores, and led the league in even strength.    We were also 5th best in goals against.    It was our high water mark season, until the peak Sedin era, and still one of the greatest regular seasons we've had.

Ryan Walter might not be a name brought up much, but he did a great job anchoring the fourth line at times with Tom Fergus.   Larionov...well imagine if he stayed with us.

We are happy about the stats we have right now, and rightly so.   The last couple years to start the season, I enjoy looking at how many potential 20 goal scorers we have, and it's seemed with Horvat especially, we had a shot at 7-8 guys in the 15-20 range, all with a shot at 20.   This year is no different, but as things tighten up down the stretch, pretty sure 92/93 is safe, even with QHs.

Team could however, do something that's extremely rare all-time, two guys with plus 100 points, plus a D.    Aside from Boston, EDM ... who's done that?   Maybe the NYI but not sure both Bossy and Trottier were doing it yet..

Yeah I talked about both Ryan Walter and Tom Fergus in the 25 days of Canuckmas thread.  Was glad to have these two former 70 point players as hard working veteran leadership when we acquired them.  Some real solid vets passed through from around 1988 to 1992 or so as the Canucks were on the rise...Randy Gregg, Mel Bridgman, etc.

I think Bossy and Trottier had reached 100 point form and even 120 / 130 points when Denis Potvin had his 100.  Other than Coffey and Orr the achievement is so rare - don't think anyone else has done it more than once and even got to 105 points - that I think I can remember all of them like the 70 goal guys.
