Alex Petrovic - AHL depth guy - plays similar style as Noah Juulsen. Physical, terrible hands and feet. Dylan Mcilrath - AHL depth guy - enforcer dman - former top 10 pick but doesn't possess anything other than grit. Erik Gudbranson like but worse in skating. Marcus Bjork - the only guy here that might be worthy of claiming from CBJ. Nothing very special, just a two way guy, big, mobile, and decent hands. Think Oscar Fantenberg but a righty and 6'3''. Grant Hutton - Another big and rangy dman. Mostly a defensive dman. Had a good season in the AHL, 28 year old guy whose been with NYI organization for 5 seasons. No offense but decent defensively. Paul Ladue - former North Dakota dman who played with Boeser and Stecher. From his time in LA is a very mobile guy but doesn't do anything particularly well. His game closer to Tucker Poolman, sometimes takes unnecessary risks. I think has the most NHL experience of this group. Brogan Rafferty - been there done that - great offensive skills but zero defensive awareness. Bjork out of Columbus is a little surprising. This is just my preference, but I'd be willing to not take a flyer and wait to see what Carolina does with Dylan Coghlan or Vegas with Daniil Miromanov. Yup, he sounds like a nice fit with Hughes. He may not have the legit 1st pair ceiling/pedigree we'd all prefer there...but those guys don't get placed on waivers for free. And he's better than what we're penciling in to play there now... And if/when we do find a legit Hughes partner, he can slide down to replace the expiring Myers eventually. We could do worse than picking up a 25 year old RHD with size/grit, skating, decent hands/IQ that plays a relatively safe/solid, minimal mistakes game. For those curious, his scouting report: The big Swedish defenseman arrived in North America after four seasons as a regular in the SHL. He adapted quickly to the smaller rinks and faster pace of play. He is smart and poised with the puck, and is not afraid to be physical. I would take Bjork and then still wait on someone like Coghlan or Miromanov. Hell id even take a flyer on Denisenko. This team needs to find money with a player like that somewhere along the way.
