Rip The Mesh Posted January 26, 2024 Posted January 26, 2024 (edited) This past summer, Dorrington was able to participate in his second Canucks development camp and was invited to the United States World Junior Summer Showcase team and enjoyed the challenge of practicing and playing against the players that went on to win the gold medal at the most recent World Junior Championships. Dorrington will continue to develop his game and eat up minutes this season as he builds his own game in his sophomore year. Northeastern is providing a great location for Dorrington to continue developing and will only get more ice time and responsibility as he continues his college career. Popular Post MoneyMiller Posted February 14, 2024 Popular Post Posted February 14, 2024 (edited) I watched the Beanpot final to get a good look at Willander and A Celebrini and as they were both very solid both making several great plays and doing their job well defensively and surprisingly was very pleasantly surprised seeing Dorrington's performance. In Dorrington I saw a player who reminded me of a more physical Tanev which really impressed me and was something I wasn't expecting. Dorrington showed very good footspeed and mobility and these days if you're 6'2 and skate very well you have a chance in today's fast NHL. Seemed like defensively the coaches really trusted him matching him up with BU's top forwards M Celebrini, Hughes... and defensively I saw a kid that thinks and anticipates the play very well was always in the right positions he needed to be and wasnt responsiblefor any scoring chances against which at the end of the day is the most important thing to judge a defenseman on. Also exciting when he got the chance he was very physical and is very strong for his age which even lead to a hilight reel open ice hit demolishing the BU forward sending him flying pumping the Northeastern fans and teammates. On the offensive side Dorrington wasn't afraid to jump in the play when the time was right and looked to me like theirs definitely some upside in this part of the game with good coaching and natural progression I think he has a good chance of doing. Anyway thought I'd give some prospect curious fans some of my thoughts on Dorrington after also being quite impressed watching Celebrini a couple times recently who I was also very surprised and excited to see play so well. Being impressed with these 2 kids and knowing the other more well known and highly touted prospects Willander, D Petey, Kudryavtsev... now I'm even more sure the defensive future looks very bright especially considering when these kids develop and are ready it'll likely be Hughes and Hronek leading them and the Canucks! Knowing that the Canucks lacked team and organizational depth in this important position and now seeing the very good deep Canucks and organizational depth this is now a position I think we can now feel great about for the next decade and a group I'm very excited to see grow and improve together one day! Ps sorry for some thoughts and grammar probably a bit sloppy to those who care. In my defense I played some late night beer league hockey 2 straight nights short players so I've been feeling half asleep all day lol Edited February 15, 2024 by MoneyMiller 3 2 1 Quote
