That's gotta feel bad when you get traded and the acquiring team just says "Nah, you keep 'em."

Carolina has no AHL affiliate this year as they decided to terminate their affiliation relationship with the Chicago Wolves. So they don't have a dedicated place for their players and prospects to go. A lot of their prospects and farm players are dispersed around the AHL and ECHL, so it makes sense that they said the guy they acquired stays with Colorado. 

This is likely an NHL contract dump to free up more cap space for the Canes.
