  1. You brought up his Detroit career and, yes, for the most part, he was sub-par.
  2. Have you looked at his Detroit stats? His highest point total was 38 and his defensive numbers were terrible. If I'm going off those, he's looking at more of a "show me" contract then 6.5.
  3. I don't believe Vince Dunn is comparible. Dunn creates points, where Hronek is riding the success of Hughes. It's been proven that when Hronek is put in a position to lead, he goes quiet and becomes invisible. I'm really hoping PA sticks to his guns and doesn't move off of 6.5. I'd be more for moving him if he wants more. Quinn Hughes makes any partner better. This could also open the door to bring back Tanev for the remainder of his career. He would buy time for Willander to complete his development, if necessary.
  4. I thought this might be an interesting thread to discuss ideas on who fans want to keep and who they're ok with trading or letting walk to free-agency, as well as replacements for lost or traded players. Absolute keepers: Dakota Joshua- his breakout season has been an absolute key to Vancouver's success. His mix of two-way play and physicality have propelled him to another level. Nikita Zadorov- the big defenseman really showed he belonged here since his arrival. His defensive play has been has, vastly, improved and his physical presence is badly needed here. Teddy Blueger- Joshua, Blue, Garland. Don't think much more needs saying here. Non-returnees: Elias Lindholm- unfortunately, things haven't worked out for him here. His rumored asking price may also be too much. Sam Lafferty- been ok here but, imo, he doesn't bring anything that can't be replaced. Ian Cole- same as Lafferty. Casey DeSmith- time for Silovs to get an opportunity. Mark Friedman- an irrelevant player, really. Those I would re-sign at the right price: Tyler Myers- has shown he can still play. 2 yrs x 3 would be my comfort zone. Otherwise I'd let him walk. Filip Hronek- really think 6.5 would be my ceiling for him. A quick look at his career really shows how dependent he is on the success of Quinn Hughes. NHL Tradeable: Pius Suter- the emergence of the Joshua, Blueger, Garland line and the, vastly, improved play of Hoglander has really made him a redundant, expendable player, imo. Unfortunate because I really like him but, can't keep them all. Filip Hronek- as stated above, 6.5 would be my ceiling. I did say in another thread that I felt PA will get something done with him but, as this is fantasy, I'm ok with the contradiction. Nils Hoglander- only if the right deal were to come along. Ilya Mikheyev- anyone? Anyone at all? Please? Replacements: Chris Tanev- bring our boy home. He's never looked right in another uniform. Yakov Trenin- liked this player for a long time. A true fourth liner that brings a little offense but a lot of physicality. Jett Woo- don't know that there's much more to Woo's game. Give him a 7/8 spot to see what he can do. Arturs Silovs- has proven to be solid when called upon. Noah Juulsen- time to put on the big boy pants and step up. Guillaume Brisebois- a bit of a darkhorse here. Felt so bad for him. He was finally going to get his shot but injury kept him out for most of the season. Hopefully he does get a shot. Tom Willander- another darkhorse pick but, he really proved himself in the NCAA. I am kinda hoping management sees him as ready. Desired trade targets: Brady Tkachuk- rumor has it, Ottawa might be, tentatively, shopping him. Lawson Crouse- with the move to Utah and the new ownership, might they be looking to part with some pieces to bolster their prospect pool and take a new approach. Both are Tocchet type players. I think either, or both would fit. I would continue with trade ideas but this post is getting too long. I'll save other thoughts for replies. Let the roast begin.
  5. I don't really see Hronek going anywhere. I believe PA and co. will get a deal done. We have a lot of young defenders coming into their own and could be seeing the NHL in the, not too distant, future. Tom Willander, iril Kudreyavtsev, and D-Petey are looking really promising. I can see all three being solid NHL options in two to three years. I think whoever is lost this offseason can and will be replaced in free agency.
  6. Don't know if this has been brought up but, anyone think there's a chance Celebrini could finish his NCAA career so he can pick his destination?
  7. I believe any player can be traded. In Mikheyev's case; What is PA willing to add, subtract, or maybe both, to make it happen? For example; What is Mikheyev, Lekkerimaki, and 50% salary retention worth to another team? I think this still gets us something really good. Might this get us a player I've been talking about a lot in Dmitri Voronkov? Lekkerimaki is definitely superior in skills; something Columbus still needs a lot of.
  8. I'm not seeing the balance in value here. Both Lekkerimaki and Willander are turning a lot of heads. I'd have to say Willander is one of our untouchables. Lekkerimaki, on the other hand, is one I'd be willing to discuss. Yes, the skill is high end and, yes, he's showing a lot of promise as a prospect but, the one thing I have to keep coming back to is our lack of size and aggression, We have Miller who's turned into a beast and we have Zdorov who's a big-time physical threa but, is also, one who's prone to taking silly penalties. Juulsen's another who brings physicality but, at times abandons his position to go for the big hit. It's great if it works out but, if it doesn't one can look pretty silly staring at the ceiling as one's goalie is pulling the puck out of the net. One player I keep looking at is Dmitri Voronkov. He's big, aggressive and brings enough offense that could park him on a wing as support in the top-six. At 23, he also fits the demographic you seek.
  9. I always hate deadline deals. More often then not, they become regrets. This one, however wasn't extremely costly, and was done earlier, in order to give EL more time to adjust to his new team. Thirteen games is, imo, not enough time to get a good read on his fit. I'm not panicing.
  10. Replace Boldy with Eriksson Ek, make the 1st unprotected, and I'm in.
  11. I've said this for years and it still rings true. Skilled aggression. Lawson Crouse Travis Konecny Brady Tkachuk Matthew Tkachuk Brad Marchand Dmitri Voronkov Trent Frederic These are all players that bring skill and aggression. Yes, some are better then others but, they all have a great balance of skill and grind. We have Miller who isn't consistently that guy, Garland and Hoglander who are both too small to be that guy, and Zadorov who doesn't have the skill to be that guy. While The Canucks can beat the teams they should beat like The Anaheims, San Joses, and Chicagos, they still have shown that they cannot compete with Boston, Vegas, or even, Philadelphia. I believe if it were Vancouver, Philly in the final, The Flyers would be hoisting the cup because of their higher level of physicality and puck pursuit. I also believe that until management gets it in their heads that these types of players play a paramount role in Championship success, we will not see a Stanley Cup in Vancouver. One of my wishlist players at this draft is Carson Wetsch. He has all the tools mentioned above. Yes, it will take time for him to develop but, I see a player, very much the likes of a Lawson Crouse. Unfortunately, I think he'll be off the board long before we get a pick. I know all this negativity sounds like a drag but, I really am enjoying this season and look forward to playoff hockey again.
  12. I know it's an overpayment but, players with his skills and aggressive nature aren't very common anymore. He has playoff hockey written all over him and he's only 23. It seems a first rounder isn't even getting Arber Xhekax.
  13. 6'4"- 240lbs Plays a very physical game, especially along the boards. He will drop the gloves. 24 pnts in 43 games. He also plays a responsible defensive game. He is only 23 yrs old. I wouldn't blame them at all if they made him an untouchable but, The Jackets need so many pieces. If they could get 3 or 4 good pieces for him, one would have to think it a pretty tempting proposition to move him. Brzustewicz, Silovs, 2024 1st, and maybe Kuzy (If it gets a deal done) That's 4 solid pieces they need badly.
  14. I think we'd need to add a bit more but, I'd be very interested in Dmitri Voronkov
  15. One player I've had my eye on is Dmitri Voronkov from Columbus. He has a fairly complete game but may not be the biggest producer. He could be a great compliment to a second line.
  16. Robert Thomas But I'd be adding him to the untouchable list you have going on.
  17. For the most part, I can agree with this. Unless a deal comes along that doesn't cost us any of our top prospects, I'd stay the course and just let things play out. The Canucks have had a great season, so far but, they are in no position to start bleeding the system dry of top prospects. One piece I might put in play could be the first round pick. This years draft isn't that deep. I heard the name Kevin Hayes thrown out. At first I scoffed at it but, given the cap issue that's going to quickly become problematic, he would make sense at 2C. He has a good cap hit that would carry through the worst part of the buyout and, on a Vancouver squad that is loaded with high-end skill, he'd be a good fit. Hayes for the 2024 first rounder could make sense, given the situation.
  18. Just added a post with Eriksson Ek as a target. Didn't know someone else had already mentioned him. I think it would be a pretty hefty price tag though.
  19. One center I've had my eye on for a few seasons now, is Joel Eriksson Ek. Don't have a clue about the price but, I think he'd be a pretty solid 2C.
  20. The only thing I found was an article on NHLtraderumor.com by Rob Ellis. He states he's viewed as an expert with 13 years of insider experience. Also associated with Nick Kypreos. I don't know. If this was a thing, I'd have to think an Elliotte Friedman would be all over it. It would be an awesome pick up though. Been watching his career since he was drafted. He'd bring a, bigtime, physical dimension to this team and on a good contract.
