  1. So far, boys are playing like they expected Edmonton to even the series tonight. Let's hope that changes in the third.
  2. Not all of them are bad at all the things. He's also the PM that sold off our National Energy Program for pennies on the dollar to private (predominately wealthy Americans) foreigners. That's a pretty big strike. Happiness is in decline pretty much everywhere. A pandemic, climate change (fires, droughts, floods, crop shortages), inflation, aging population, growing wage gap will do that. And they're global problems. Not to mention the advent of social media (also global) from right around that time (early 2000's) which has routinely been linked to unhappiness. FYI, we had a Conservative government for a good chunk of that. They've been brought up countless times here already. I mentioned Mulroney and Petro Can already, there's also the Wheat board under Harper. The last time they were in power there was massive cuts to all manner of social funding, not the least of which OAS but also child tax benefits and countless others. Cuts to military funding, Coast guard, countless pro corporate/anti worker bills, how they wanted to deregulate banking, debt as a % of GDP under Cons, their complete lack of a climate plan/denial of climate change... The only people the Cons help in power are the extremely wealthy, corporations and maybe nowadays religious folks that would like to see us turn back 100 years of progress on women's/minority/LGBTQ+ rights. The vast majority of Canadians, particularly those closer to the margins do worse under the Cons. And they frequently sell off national assets to foreigners as a means to pay for it which is damaging to all of Canada long term.
  3. Nope, it's pretty factual in their history. Canadians and Canada do worse under the Conservatives. Fiscally, socially, environmentally. Cuts to social safety nets, pro corporations over people, worse environmental policies, worse public infrastructure, wage disparity etc, etc.
  4. Sure...how about "promoting here and suggesting you will vote for"? Better? Now how about actually addressing the actual meat of the post? So why EXACTLY are you voting for him? Why should we? Please tell me you have more than "not Trudeau".
  5. By all means, vote elsewhere. I've been suggesting it for years. If nothing else but to get our two main parties that we like to yo-yo between to smarten the fuck up and govern better. Neither party has particularly served us all that well, the Cons are just the worst of the two. Bad and badder. Voting for a party that's even worse is hardly reasoned or rational. Voting for the two same parties that got us here, and that we've been electing for DECADES isn't "change". It's more of exactly the same, and the worse of them.
  6. For all their flaws (and there certainly are many)...they're pro-union/worker, they actually create policy that helps actual Canadians like healthcare, pharmacare, dental etc, etc
  7. Well the guy you're telling us to vote for is doing a pretty shit job of it himself, so why EXACTLY are you voting for him? Why should we? Please tell me you have more than "not Trudeau".
  8. I think we can agree that while not nothing, they aren't "good enough". That's pretty much the liberal slogan "we're ok, but not good enough" Now show me how the Cons will be better? Because everything in their policies and history says they'll in fact make those problems worse, not better. So what's worse? "Ok, but not good enough"? Or "We're way worse, but we're not the other guys!"?
  9. Because they're mad (AKA emotional @Elias Pettersson) and naive having never worked/elected/lived as adults under a Conservative government to know the realities of what that means (slashed social safety nets, slashed public services, anti-union/worker, selling off Canadian assets to foreign entities, climate change denial etc, etc). And heck, I'm not even saying they shouldn't be mad. Boomers gamed the system, outnumber them (aging population), handed over too much power to corporations, and did it all while pillaging the planet causing climate change that's going to cost them billions of dollars, hardship and massive changes in their lifestyles. The same lifestyles those Boomers enjoyed. And those Boomers now need to be cared for in their twilight years, costing even more money. And on top of that, they had to go through a global pandemic, a couple of absoluuetly stupid wars etc, with all the inflation and myriad other issues they've caused. They should be pissed. Leaning even further in to those issues by voting for the Cons, hardly seems a reasoned, rational response.
  10. I don't particularly like Trudeau. That said, I don't really care about it him all that much either. This has nothing to do with Trudeau. Frankly leadership doesn't really matter all that much. They're just the face of a party unless you're actually in their riding. You know what I do like and care about? Policies. Voting for the Cons is voting against the vast majority of Canadian's own best interests.
  11. Yeah, they are. And easily manipulated with the (emotional) rage farming that's rampant on social media, in which they are heavily active. The world made it worse. How are the even more corporate, anti -union, services and social saftey net slashing, axe the tax/climate change denying Cons going to improve things like income disparity, protecting the most marginalized, climate change and it's myriad costs etc? FYI, they're not. Naive and emotional are buzzwords? No, it's actually pretty evidential. Who cares about Trudeau? Vote for policy. The Libs may not be great (admittedly) but they're FAR better than the Cons (especially in a minority with NDP backing) .Voting even more against your own best interests in spite, is the very definition of naivety and emotion.
  12. Because they're naive and haven't, as working adults, lived through (or been able to vote for) a conservative government that is in fact worse at basically every metric they are (or should be) concerned about. Because they're emotionally (vs intellectually) reacting to a world that has gotten harder in the last ~10 years due to a list of things that have little to do with Canadian government (global aging population, global pandemic, global inflation, global climate change).
  13. It always is. Was the same in 2011. As per the avatar, embrace the hate.

Hated his contract but that was when he was just a Luc Robitaille clone.  Now, under the coaching of Tocchet, he's become a more complete player.  Him staying relatively healthy I think was also a major factor.
