NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in an interview with Stephen A. Smith on ESPN's "First Take" that the league is considering going back to the East vs. West format in the All-Star Game this season, after having the top vote-getters in each conference serve as captains for the past several seasons.

"We're looking at some potential changes in format in Indianapolis this year," Silver said about the 2024 All-Star Game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. "Maybe a return to something more traditional in terms of how the teams are presented. We went to sort of this captain and draft notion, but clearly historically it was East vs. West. So that's maybe something we are looking at."

Yes Ended up with 15 points so not a bad debut but the Mavs rookie Dereck Lively II looked impressive 16 points on 7-8 shooting and 10 rebounds

Does W look a bit fragile to you?  Even among a bunch of tall skinny guys he looks tall and skinny.  Like if someone runs into him he could snap like a toothpick.

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/273515/James-Harden-PJ-Tucker-Traded-To-Clippers-For-Marcus-Morris-Nic-Batum-Robert-Covington-KJ-Martin-Picks

The Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to trade James Harden, PJ Tucker, and Filip Petrusev to the Los Angeles Clippers, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Sixers will receive Marcus Morris, Nic Batum, Robert Covington, KJ Martin, multiple draft picks, and a pick swap.

The draft picks include an unprotected first-round pick in 2028, two second-round picks, and a pick swap. The Clippers will also send an additional future first-round pick from another team.

Danny Green was waived by the Sixers to make roster room to accommodate the trade.

The 34-year-old Harden, who opted into his $35.6 million player option last summer for the 2023-24 season, had yet to play for the Sixers this year.

After Nikola Jokic was drafted by the Denver Nuggets in the 2014 NBA draft, he spent a month at P3 Applied Sports Science in Santa Barbara.

Jokic recorded the lowest standing vertical leap of any NBA player they had ever assessed. Jokic's 17 inch leap remains the lowest with over 1,000 players in their database.

Jokic was asked if he wanted to reserve any court time while at P3 to work on his basketball game.

"No, no," Jokic replied. "No basketball. Basketball is good."

Jokic then patted his stomach.

"This" -- his body -- "not so good," Jokic responded.

No player at P3 before or since had not picked up a basketball during their time at their facility.

Jokic overhauled his diet and eliminated a three-liters-a-day Coca-Cola habit.

NBA interested in a international City for Expansion(they will look at US Cities first((Seattle and Las Vegas)) but Vancouver, Montreal, Mexico City in consideration)

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2023/11/14/vancouver-nba-expansion-commissioner/

Could the NBA be coming to Montreal or Vancouver?

While making an appearance on the Boston Celtics’ broadcast during their game Monday against the New York Knicks, NBA commissioner Adam Silver seemingly opened the doors to the possibility of expansion north of the border in the future.

“That’s become a great basketball market,” he said. “I will say the Toronto Raptors have done a good job… of making themselves Canada’s team. I know there’s interest from Montreal. There’s still ongoing interest in Vancouver.”

With 27 active Canadians in the NBA, putting their country on the map, Silver is taking notice of the rise in popularity of the sport. He mentions the recent success of the Canadian men’s basketball team, which came away with the bronze medal at the FIBA World Cup over the summer with an overtime victory over the United States, as an indicator of the talent that is reaching the highest levels of the sport.

No country outside of the U.S. has more NBA players than Canada. The group of Canadians taking the floor nightly includes 2022-23 All-NBA First Team member Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, NBA champions Andrew Wiggins and Jamal Murray, and Raptors forward Chris Boucher.

“It began so much as a hockey market when we first expanded there,” he told NBC Sports Boston’s Mike Gorman. “Young people love basketball now. Obviously, they still love their hockey there, but there will be more opportunity over time.”

Adam Silver was a guest on the NBC Sports Boston broadcast of Celtics-Knicks on Monday night. During the game, the topic of NBA expansion came up. Silver all but confirmed it's on the NBA's to-do list after they finish the new media rights deal.

Silver said that there are "couple of cities in the US" that the NBA will look at first. It's expected those cities will include Seattle and Las Vegas. Silver was asked about international expansion. He said that Vancouver and Mexico City remain in consideration for NBA involvement.

Silver added that Montreal has reached out to the NBA to express interest in an expansion team. Silver talked about how rapidly the game of basketball has grown in Canada. He also mentioned how successful the league has been with the now-annual Mexico City game, as well as the G League presence in Mexico City.
