Gurn
Really long story by https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/mlb/things-go-from-bad-to-worse-for-blue-jays-in-demoralizing-loss-to-nationals/ar-AA1o79wK?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=4a2074386fe84e3cbd248449360ecdf6&ei=17 WASHINGTON — For a minute there, it looked like it was going to be different. It looked like this was going to be the night. It looked like the Washington Nationals, a franchise that hasn’t mustered a winning record since it raised a World Series banner in 2019, were the schedule soft spot the Toronto Blue Jays needed.
Gurn
At last, at last, change has come; The Toronto Blue Jays officially called up outfielder Nathan Lukes from triple-A Buffalo on Friday, ahead of their three-game series against the Washington Nationals. In a corresponding move, utility player Addison Barger was optioned to the Buffalo Bisons. Lukes had a solid showing in spring training but did not make the Opening Day roster. The 29-year-old has posted a .284/.348/.432 slashline, with three home runs and 13 RBI in 20 appearances with the triple-A Buffalo Bisons this year. Lukes was selected in the seventh round of the 2015 MLB draft by Cleveland. Barger, 24, appeared in five games for the Blue Jays during his stint in the big league, with one run and one hit in 18 at-bats. https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/mlb/blue-jays-call-up-of-nathan-lukes-option-addison-barger-to-triple-a/ar-AA1o6AMe?ocid=hpmsn&cvid=6bd20efc3331497aa1459ac3aceaf8ca&ei=60 ------------------------------------------------------------ not much change, but change none the less. Was really hoping that they'd hired a qualified manager or cleaned out the front office. This management group shouldn't be allowed to make any major trades at this point.
nuckin_futz
Apparently the Jays are bring Alek Manoah back and he's getting the start tomorrow. In 5 minor league starts he's pitched 19.2 innings and has an ERA of 8.69. Opponents have hit 5 home runs off him and are batting .337 He belongs in single A not The Show. Perhaps management is self immolating? 2 1

Rather then make it a bullpen day they're just gonna throw him to the wolves.

Wilbur
Inexcusable error by Bichette there. First batter for Manoah back in the majors and he sails a lazy sidearm throw high. Gross.

Wilbur
And Vladdy picks up Springer. First clutch hit in a while, good to see.
RupertKBD
Goes to show what thinking at the plate can do for you.... With the count 2-0 Vladdy was obviously looking for the change and watched a 98 MPH fastball right down the middle. He stuck with the plan and got the changeup on the next pitch....and he did not miss it....

Wilbur
Nationals looking like they don't want to swing against Manoah. Hoping he completely loses his command I guess.
Wilbur
Manoah battling well, I will give him that. Through 3 innings seems to be losing command later in the innings.
