Blue Jays / MLB Talk

The pitching was tops in the league last year, management took quite the gamble of hope that it would be as healthy and good this year and failed miserably.
The hitting stinks and Schneider refuses to change his batting order in any significant way. They’re not developing top prospects despite the facilities and infrastructure to do so…. It’s a mess.

Baltimore and Tampa constantly have difference making prospects come in. Boston and New York can constantly buy their way out of poor teams and are never sub par for more than 3 years. It’s like management doesn’t realize how hard it is to compete in the AL East.

Interesting interview with Whit Merrifield on Sportsnet.ca

Whit says he loved Toronto and wanted to stay, but there was never any serious interest shown by the Jays. He also said he wasn't happy about his lack of playing time in the post-season and he "hated" the decision to pull Berrios in the last game.

Yes Whit, you and every Jays fan, plus every other person invested with the team, except for the team's management group.....:classic_dry:

BTW: A solid start from Bassitt and 3 hits from Vladdy in a 5-3 win for the Jays. It's also worth noting that Davis Schneider has 2 hits and a walk, (Somebody really ought to suggest he be put in the leadoff spot :classic_unsure:)

3 hits and 2 RBI from KK in the 9th spot as well....

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is dealing with an illness and will not be in the starting lineup Friday against the Minnesota Twins.

The Blue Jays have moved Davis Schneider into Springer’s leadoff spot with Cavan Biggio handling duties in right field.

Like WIlbur said, it was nice to see the hitters pick up the pitcher for a change, but it would be even nicer to see the team playing well in both departments.

The team can't continue on this path of "win one, lose one", if they want to get back in the race. Unfortunately, it looks like another tough day on the mound as Alek Manoah gets the start today.

I guess the one bit of good news is that, if the Jays can somehow get into the late innings with a lead, both Yimi Garcia and Jordan Romano had quick innings and should be available....
