Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks today announced nine Community and Fan Engagement Night celebrations for the first half of their 2023.24 season. Diwali Night will kick off the festivities on November 15 at Rogers Arena when the Canucks host the New York Islanders.

“We are proud of the role we play connecting and celebrating our diverse community and fanbase through these special nights, and are excited for this season’s events,” said Michael Doyle, President, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Business Operations. “These celebrations highlight and inform our fans about some incredible causes and initiatives; using our hockey platform to help amplify and support a multitude of communities. Our entire organization is excited to make these nights a memorable occasion for all who attend.”

For Diwali night on November 15, fans can expect a pre-game party on the north plaza with a live DJ, bhangra performances and more. What is Diwali?

Diwali is the Indian “festival of lights”—a holiday celebrating the triumph of good over evil. In 2023, Diwali will be celebrated on November 12. Though technically religious, it’s also become a cultural event in North America celebrated with sweets and special foods. Learn about Diwali, when it occurs, and common traditions!

The themed nights were never removed. Just removed players wearing the warmup jerseys, and the tape (temporarily).

Ah, gotcha. I thought it was a blanket special nights are done in general thing. My guess is they'll still be selling specialized jerseys and other merch.

Honestly, you’re both wrong. It’s about culture not colour.

maybe watching more foreign films would open your mind to exploring other cultures ?

even if it’s only for 3 minutes between play 😅

can I suggest the legendary Harakiri?
