Ooh, OP EP I'm curious what lines and cap space would look like for the Rangers.
They would be a powerhouse with two all-world C's, Shesterkin in net and Fox on the blueline.
Would they be able to make the cap fit without thinning out too quickly though?

In my trade, Edmonton retains 50% of Draisaitl's salary to make the cap work...

Panarin       McDavid      Gagner

Kreider        Draisaitl       Wheeler

Cuylle          Chytil           Vesey

Goodrow     Bonino         Pitlick

Janmark

Lindgren         Fox

Miller              Trouba

Gustafsson    Desharnais

Jones             Mackey

Shesterkin     Quick

Cap is $82,801,524 with Draisaitl 50% retention.  NY Rangers would be cup favourites with this lineup...

Doesn't make much sense for NYR, I think they'd be better off sticking to their current plan of good core and rebuilding constantly from within.

Boston need a top line center for the playoffs. They look good during the regular season but their weakness last year was no 1C. Forget about McDavid, he disappeared in the playoffs and doesn't play Bruins hockey, but Draisaitl is their perfect top line center. Big, strong, physical, and becomes a monster in the playoffs.

Edmonton want defence and goaltending, Boston have both in numbers.

Draisaitl + trash goalie for Lindholm + Swayman or Ullmark + 1st

I know Swayman's young, and his numbers are out of this world, but a lot of is that is team play. If Edmonton want a star young goalie they're going to have to give up a star center. Works for both teams - Boston still have a good goalie (and will surely turn Edmonton's into a decent one behind that defence), losing Lindholm will hurt but they've got depth there, but most importantly they finally get a center who can drop over a PPG.

That right-wing group is the stuff of nightmares.  Maybe trade Gustafsson for another RW?  Otherwise that could be a very real weakness on a contender, since the D, C, G and LW are all pretty strong.
