Anybody Else See the Influence of the Sedin Twins on the Rushes Lately?

I did notice this too and was impressed. We'll have all 4 lines playing like mini-Sedins in no time.

Honestly it's kind of weird seeing our bottom six make around three short neutral zone passes to enter into a zone. Really really nice hockey to watch.

Interesting observation.

In a less detailed description, I would say that the level of control nearly all lines have when advancing to the offensive zone has been noticeable (and improving!) as the season has progressed. Didn't consider the Sedin connection, but now it's hard to unsee it.

It is interesting to see Quinn Hughes defer the puck to Pettersson for zone entries on the PP.  In 5v5, the man almost never fails to carry the puck in.

Watch the next couple games closely.  His go-to move is to be in the middle of the ice and enter the blue line from an angle, usually targeting the weaker D-man (or even a forward out of position).  Because he goes in at an angle, it forces defenders to back off and try to push him to the side boards.  Pettersson then just pulls up and dishes to a trailing winger, throwing off the defensive structure and creating scoring chances.

OP -  Your point is the last 3 weeks the break outs have been Sedin like.  Your conclusion is the Sedins are coaching this.

Question - The team has been on the road since Jan 3. No opportunity for the Sedins to coach them during the last 2 weeks.    So before that they were at home for  10  days.  But they were off for Christmas for  4  of those days and playing games for 2 of those days.

So when did the Sedins do this coaching?

And is there any evidence they were working with the NHL group and not just the AHL group in the last month or so?

Just curious.  Not saying you are right or wrong just curious if your position holds water or this is just a figment of your imagination.

Yup. Hughes is a generational phenom. Best D (snd done would argue player) in the league.

I'm not stating that it has just randomly occurred in the last few weeks, just that it's been culminating into being a noticeable difference in the past 3 weeks. It's likely something been in the works for months, and not to mention they're also going to be doing video coaching as well. Often times teams will watch video and show examples of how to attack in certain areas of the ice, defend against certain plays, pre-scout, etc.

You're not going to have that drastic of a change within 1 or 2 practices. That's a long term thing and we've seen a gradual change too, starting with the way we attack rushes to the way we forecheck to the way we exit the zone, etc.

But there has been a very noticeable display of some really small 5-10 foot passes which is synonymous with the Sedins lately. Stuff we haven't seen from this team in the past 7 or so years.

I think the Sedins probably help a lot with board control and holding the puck up well in the offensive zone with little tips and tricks like moving the puck with their skates and sticks well. Surprised to see no one really emulate their cycle just yet though, I wonder if the Bleuger/Garland/Joshua line would be great at that.
