Strawbone Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I wonder if this helps with a Petey extension, knowing that the team is in good hands for many years to come? 1 Quote
PhillipBlunt Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Rutherford has earned it. As had Alvin, whenever he's re-signed. 2 1 Quote

I just hope we continue to see more of the first half of Penguins tenure Jim than the second half version, you'll get mixed takes on Rutherford from Pens fans despite the cups 1 Quote
Popular Post Karma-Kazi44 Posted January 19 Popular Post Posted January 19 This is great news. I have never seen a franchise turn around so quickly. It’s impressive. Top to bottom they have done exactly what they said. None of this “we ran out of time” “ the options just weren’t there” “we’re happy where we are as a group” bull$hit one liners. This management got the coaches we needed and the support players we needed to play the style that Vancouver Canucks fans have missed for many years. Let’s bring that cup to Vancouver! I have faith In this group!!! 12 1 1 Quote
6of1_halfdozenofother Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Still curious to see if he'll pull off the big ticket item on his mandate list: an official practice facility for the kids. Quote
Popular Post HKSR Posted January 19 Popular Post Posted January 19 If he takes the Canucks to a Stanley Cup championship during his tenure here, then I think it's safe to say he is one of the greatest hockey masterminds in the history of the NHL. 8 4 1 1 1 Quote
Popular Post Jess Posted January 19 Popular Post Posted January 19 I'll say this: I'm not a fan of the way Rutherford handled the Boudreau situation and I don't respect him as a result of that. That said, he knows the right people to hire to get the job done, so on the hockey front, he's done well. 2 3 8 1 Quote
OldFaithfulcap Posted January 19 Posted January 19 (edited) Meh. Last season was awful. This season is good so far but far from over. Doesn't matter much as if they suddenly regress as he can get moved on just like the coaches were. Edited January 19 by OldFaithfulcap 1 Quote

Canuck You Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Boudreau took his shots and sounded sour, So I guess all is forgiven. Time to embrace the mastermind, Bring us the cup Jimmy boy! 3 Quote

Grandmaster Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Seriously? The guy is old enough to have fought in the American civil war! He has been awesome for us but he needs to relax and take care of what few years he has left! 3 Quote

O'Keefe has been in the news lately that he's getting fired, but the difference is that Toronto media hasn't turned it into a shit show like Vancouver media did at the time. Everyone loved Bruce, but what happened (minus the outrage) was standard practice in the NHL. 1 1 Quote

Eh, many hockey fans care about results at the end of the day, even after their team wins a championship or two. Sure, there would be a chunk of the Canucks fandom who'd happily accept whatever came after if it meant having won a cup, but there's also a large chunk of the fanbase who would absolutely care if management went on to make poor decisions. Blues fans were pissed with management for fumbling the Pietrangelo scenario for example. Quote

Pears Posted January 19 Posted January 19 I will say the Boudreau situation could've been handled a lot better, but he's completely turned us around since. What really got me excited when we first hired him was he was basically retired, so you knew he wasn't going to take the job to just steer us in the right direction. He wants another cup before he's done for good. Quote
