Satchmo
You are going to have to be as much of a nerd as I am to appreciate this post which is brought to you by the number 137 or maybe 1/137.03599913 If you like Wikipidia better than those sciency sites, it starts out boring and then gets more interesting: 137 (one hundred [and] thirty-seven) is the natural number following 136 and preceding 138. Apparently it has a lot of its roots based on scientific studies and fact. There's a netflix series called Surviving Death. The first episode was great, focused on near death experiences . 2nd was crap, total crap....got into Mediums ( people that can talk to the dead) and it completely lost me, these Mediums seem like a circus act preying on people mourning a loss. I dont think I will watch another episode unless I'm bored. I like this topic. There are a lot of really interesting accounts. However the trailer you posted reeks of religion/ god etc.. maybe it's the big G logo or the Angel studios. Most of the NDE i have heard of dont usually mention a God or Jesus figure. Lots have strange 'beings', some see relatives that have passed, even more talk of astral projection-like experiences...such as floating around the operating room. There is very likely a scientific explanation. Our limited understanding of reality or concsiousness...something like that. Jumping to 'God' does the study of the phenomenon a disservice, so I am wary of this movie. Though I am curious on how they show scientific studies and 'fact' on the subject. UnkNuk
World’s biggest experimental nuclear fusion reactor launched in Japan The world’s biggest operational experimental nuclear fusion reactor – a technology in its infancy but billed by some as the answer to humanity’s future energy needs – has been inaugurated in Naka, Japan. Fusion differs from fission, the technique used in nuclear power plants, by fusing two atomic nuclei instead of splitting one. The goal of the JT-60SA reactor is to investigate the feasibility of fusion as a safe, large-scale and carbon-free source of net energy – with more energy generated than is put into producing it. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/dec/01/worlds-biggest-experimental-nuclear-fusion-reactor-launched-in-japan?utm_term=656f3c1f897a19fe747728f1b5a4a328&utm_campaign=DownToEarth&utm_source=esp&utm_medium=Email&CMP=greenlight_email
RupertKBD
If it's a clear night where you live, you might be able to see and asteroid block one of the largest and brightest stars in the night sky....but only if you live in a narrow strip that circles the globe half a continent south of BC.... https://www.cnn.com/2023/12/11/world/betelgeuse-asteroid-occultation-scn/index.html At about 5 pm our time an asteroid will pass in front of Betelguese (known as an Occultation) the "shoulder" of the Constellation Orion.... Betelguese is the large red star in the upper left.....the bright white star in the lower right is Rigel. Both are supergiants (although Betelguese is much larger than Rigel) and although they appear to be neighbors from our vantage point on Earth, they're about 130 light years apart. Also, for the Harry Potter fans, the opposite "shoulder" of Orion is the star Bellatrix.... Edited January 11 by RupertKBD 1
