Zads pushed him from behind and he collapsed because he always wants to put on a show but that put him face first into Soucy's stick. Shouldn't be fined or suspended but Soucy will get 1-2 games because it was McDavid and he has a different rule book. Terrible reffing in this series. Problem is that isn't how the league looks at it. They look at it as this was an angry reaction that led to the crosscheck and because it is reactionary it is worse. Does it make sense, no. We need to be more disciplined though. These are a group of dirtbag players that take the cheap shots looking for a reaction because that is what gets called. That is why Kane had shit eating grin after Zads levelled him. Groin shots, spearing, McDavid slashing Q to the face, this is the MO of these dirtbags and we can't be reactionary or we end up in the box and that is the only way this deeply flawed team can beat us is keep drawing us into reactionary crap. Still, have to stick up for your star players no matter what - very telling about the Coilers. If someone took that kind of shot on Petey or Huggy at the end of the game, you can bet one of JT, Soucy, Cole, Zadorov, Joshua and perhaps even Garland would have laid the lumber to the chicklets in response. Zadorov came in to give McDavid his licks with a crosscheck which timing wise Soucy retaliated on McDavid's actions as he was pushed downward. McDavid f'd around and found out. Each player should have received fines for their actions after the game. Thats it. By not simply fining all three, the league is deciding to cherry pick what was an action deemed punishable, its a severe credibility hit and cheapens the sport to see picking and choosing over the players involved. Just like the officiating at times has been in terms of cherry picking what to see or call when the resources are there for fair play. Again, its not ok for Soucy to miss a game over this, its not ok at all. And if it goes that way I want to see the club advocate for him publicly.
