PunjabiCanucks23 Posted November 11, 2023 Share Posted November 11, 2023 The Oilers are currently in a s31t show with their lack of depth and goalie and an overpriced Dman in Nurse. 1) Goaltending Bruins are not going to move their goalies so a team carrying extra goaltending is potentially Vegas . EDM recieves: Logan Thompson (low cap hit, but right now better then the other goalies they have), Stephenson, Nicolos Roy. Vegas recieves: Evander Kane and a 2025 3rd pick Vegas gains a physical guy who has the capability to score 60pts + - 2) Nurse's cap hit Hawks recieve: Nurse, 2023 1st rd pick (conditional- top 10 protected), 2023 2nd rd pick (conditional to Oilers making playoffs)? EDM recieves future considerations --- This solves 2 issus and allows EDM to get depth in forwards at a cheaper cap hit and goalie. You are proposing to fix Edmonton's goaltending, but not their other issues, meaning that they are still overall, a mess... 2. You are proposing to send Evander Kane to Las Vegas where he will, oddly enough, create havoc in their dressing room and destroy the team chemistry (funny how that seems to follow him), enduring that Vegas doesn't have a chance to repeat... 3. You move Nurse to Chicago for some shiny bobbles that they can turn into players down the road, but hamstringing their cap situation so that they won't be able to afford Bedard and will have to move him to Vancouver.... With cap saved they can look at getting depth infront or better D Kane is 32yrs old player that has never had a 60pt game; meanwhile, Stephenson has had 64pt and 65pt in the last 2 seasons. He was also fabulous during the playoffs last year. Vegas doesn't need to add toughness; they are loaded already. I don't see them being interested in this trade. If they're giving up Thompson and good center depth (AND 3 of their better contracts - Thompson on ELC, Roy at $3 million a year as a 26 year old, Stephenson as a pending UFA) I'm not sure they would use all of that to consolidate in one winger with attitude issues (though it would really stack their top-6). Why does Nurse waive for Chicago? They're not going anywhere quick and he has a NMC. If there's an up-and-coming team with a LHD roster spot and enough cap space (or enough veteran salary to send back) I could see him move, otherwise he's probably staying put. The Oilers need to start having serious conversations with Draisaitl and McDavid with regards to their future intentions. If both players are noncommittal, then you need to start thinking about moving both players for boatloads of picks, prospects, etc. Find a new core, and lock em long term like Ottawa has done to their players.
