Should Garland be moved up ?

No.  Top 2 lines are playing well.  With most of the top 6 other than FDG not really being suitable to take over his spot

Actually Garlsnd fits a lot better on a line where he is the guy carrying the puck. Do he isn’t going to be with Petey and Miller much. That’s why we’ve been trying to move him. He isn’t a good fit with us.

Garland eats just about 5 on our cap for two more years after this one. That’s money better reallocated.

Garland is a pass-first winger.  Does that work on a line with Pettersson?  Maybe, but probably not.

Nah, we're doing fine. Keep him on the 3rd line unless we have injury problems--he's probably the first guy to get 2nd line minutes if a top 6 guy goes down.

This means we are deep regarding injuries. 
We don't need to do any changes before injuries.

I'm not a garland fan on the whole but he has definitely played better so far this year and I love that @stawns's own boy served him his crow last night.

I have always been a believer in Conor Garland.  He is a crafty playmaker with a very unique playing style.  Watch him closely and he makes excellent plays on both sides of the ice.  He puts very good passes into the slot - although his teammates haven't converted many chances yet, they are expected to come.

 

 

I don't know if he's a good fit on this team per se, but I think he should absolutely be bumped up to the line with Miller.  Do I think Tocchet is going to demote Di Giuseppe, his favourite player?  I hope he does.  Di Giuseppe is a hard-working defensive winger and the hustle he brings is a better fit on the third line.

How or why. Garlands line currently leads in goals for per 60, has the lowest goals against per 60. Our top 2 tines are clicking and enjoying success because our 3rd has the gas pedal floored right now doing yeoman's work. My pov is taking Garland off the 3rd would do more harm than good.

Even if that statement were true. The problem is, he's not a bottom 6 guy. Garland can at least play the role somewhat cause he plays with an edge. Playing Kuzy in the bottom 6 is not using him in a way best suited to his talents. The only guy you can make the argument for moving down is PDG. But he clearly has chemistry with Boeser and Miller. Disrupting that line for no reason is dumb. We have a decent amount of depth, guys are playing well. Lets leave things be until injuries show their face up front.

Garland is streaky at best.  Does anybody think he'll score 20 again?  I don't.  He's 2-3-5 this year.  And when he scores, he looks great but it'll be 10 games or more between goals.  He scored in game 1 and game 15.  He's one of Bennings classic over paid guys.  $4.9?  should be 2.9.  This is why he's been on the trade block.

The problem with all these graphs and spreadsheets is they don't take into account the fact our top 6 is playing the harder matchups. Especially the Miller line. There are numerous analytics that suggest they're not playing great. But we all can see they are our best line. Hell, the War chief posted the War chart for PDG and Garland. But lets not forget that PDG plays with Miller, who routinely matches up against McDavid, Robertson, and Panarin when he was in town. We have a 2nd line tweener playing against other team's 4th lines. It's gonna make him look good in the analytics.

I would like to see Garland with Lafferty and Suter, more of a speed line. 

 

Play Beauvilier with Dakota and Teddy. 

 

Although, line tinkering doesn't make a lot of sense when the team is playing this well. 

 

I would like to see Kuzmenko get rolling, but with Ilya going, it is often overlooked.

Is the Canucks go 33 - 34 (sub .500) they will finish with nearly 90 points. 

 

I have an impossible time believing this team doesn't at least go a few games over .500
