Miss Korea Posted December 3, 2023 Posted December 3, 2023 In general I find it best to avoid trading for more expensive players who are so bad they're getting scratched. I also don't think we need an offensive defenceman right now. 1 1 1 Quote

RJCF96 Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 Luckily, Benning is no longer the GM. Because he was interested in trading a 10th OA pick in 2019+ to acquire Barrie from Colorado; and then in the 2020 off-season, rumour has it that there is another GM willing to offer Barrie $6 million per year (currently $4.5 million per), and Barrie chose to play with McDavid and Oilers on the PP to boost his stat instead. There is a good chance that the other GM was Benning as at the time, he failed to acquire OEL and before the Nate Schmidt trade occured. If Benning is the GM, he would've look at trading multiple future assets to acquire him as a rental. 2 Quote

The Canucks desperately need help on the right side and the Predators just made a roster move that could spark the conversations. TYSON BARRIE HEADED HOME? The Victoria, BC Native Tyson Barrie was recently made a healthy scratch and his agent seek permission to talk to other team's GM. The Canucks have been looking for a right handed Defenseman and there could be an opportunity to acquire a veteran, on an expiring contract, at a low-cost. A three-team trade proposal emerged sending Barrie to the Canucks and Allvin could be intrigued: TO NASHVILLE - Joni Jurmo - 2024 Vancouver 4th Round - 50% of Barrie's $4.5M cap hit TO ARIZONA - 2024 New Jersey 4th Round - 50% of Barrie's $2.25M cap hit TO VANCOUVER - Tyson Barrie ($1.25M cap hit) The Canucks would essentially be acquiring a notched 55 points in 75 games and a +36 rating last year at a near league minimum contract for two 4th Round Picks and Joni Jurmo. This could help the Canucks making a strong push toward a steep playoff run. 1 1 1 1 Quote

He's sure not an upgrade over anyone on the current roster. I dunno, I think he would be over Juulsen and Friedman Once Soucy is back we have a lot of big defenders. We will need something to offset all that. I watched Barrie most of last year. Had him in my hockey pool. He’s still got game left and can very effectively run PP2. Defensively he’s got his warts as i’m sure we all know about. But I feel like they are also blown out of proportion. When he is paired with a good dman with size he compliments them very well. Quote
Attila Umbrus Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 The other guy I would target in the trade if we could from Nash is Trenin. I’ve always liked his game. Also decent at faceoffs too. But isn’t used as a full time center. Ufa at end of year 1 Quote
Goal_thecup Posted December 4, 2023 Posted December 4, 2023 No to wimpy TB; we doan need no stinkin' TB. No to losing Yoni Yurmo; no to losing prospects for little old TB. And, how does getting TB free us of Garland's salary and cap hit? This thread confuses me; why even bother paying for old garbage? Quote
