We could even have the cap space to bring in Lindholm, Guentzel, and a top 4 RHD (assuming we trade Kuzmenko). Not to mention we'd probably be able to keep the Garland line together! WHAT WHAT?! This is absolutely asinine. What a hair-brained way to gain cap space, trade away our most skilled center, while depleting our top picks and prospects. Again, this better be a joke, which obviously it isn't.

This ain't no joke! This is the real deal! So much money to work with. We could be 1st in the NHL.
Bobby James
Crazy trade you weren't kidding. Now all Canucks need is a young number 1 franchise center to build around...

Jess
Maybe I'm wrong, but I didn't think the total renetion could exceed 50%, even if multiple teams were involved. Kind of a fun idea to play around with the value of a good player at insanely low cap hits though. Pretty sure this deal makes us considerably worse in both the short and long-term though. There are trades that were done exactly to exceed the 50% and up to 75% retention before said player hit the final team's books. I would hazard a guess one could conjure up a trade involving enough teams to have the last team pickup a $6M player for the equivalent of a round of golf in Japan by the time the smoke cleared. The added benefit would be having Bettman's head explode when the Canucks presented a 9-team carousel trade package to the league for approval knowing there was nothing he could do to stop it ... PeteyBOI
suprisingly this would likely lead us on our way to a cup.... but at what cost??? anyways these teams likely wont do this retention crap you wanted....

Qwags
Trade our superstar 1C, every decent prospect, and a 1st round pick for Eriksson Ek. I'd like Eriksson Ek, but I can't imagine what a team is doing to be making a deal like this.

A-prospect (maybe a bit lower) 1st Round Pick 2nd Round Pick for .... wait for it ... need another hit ... pfffffffftttttt And the best part is JEE is 2 YEARS OLDER SO WE DON'T HAVE TO HAVE ON THE TEAM AS LONG!
