Canucks Have the "Hardest" Schedule

Recommended Posts

Good article. Glass half full view regarding their schedule is:

- only three more back to back games left (two after this road trip). Although all three back to backs are on the road.

- playoffs essentially start now for this team even though they are in first place. They are going to see a lot of good teams so the likelihood of them getting complacent before the playoffs is low.

-Still a lot to play for in terms of the importance of finishing first in the Pacific - Canucks control their own destiny

I remember someone was posting how we have much harder schedule than the Oilers.  We have the 6th hardest and they are in the middle.

But its 57% vs 55.6% opponent point %,  pretty slim.

Plus I think the Oilers have 8 back to backs left

Our season series against the jets and the Knights will make or break our top-three VS top-ten level finish.  Good to get those tests going into playoffs.  Hopefully they don't create a ripple effect in our performance (New scape-goats in losses, or line chemistry changes)

It's a weird mix. The timing and scheduling of games is quite easy, but the opponents are quite difficult. So essentailly, we play a lot of strong teams, but should be well-rested for the challenges.

Couldn't ask for a better run to the playoffs than that!

This type of games will only help the Canucks to maintain their intensity in preparation for the playoffs.  You need tough opponents to prepare well.  You would not want to play against Chicago,, San Jose down the stretch for they will give you compliant your preparedness and actually lose some steam.  This has to be a making of a perfect preparedness you could possible get compared to the other teams' schedule in the past where they cruise to the President Trophy and get opponent like Columbus, Ottawa, Montreal Sharks type of the schedule down the stretch that you are not sharp in the first game of the first round of playoffs.

Also from February 22nd, and onset, you are playing in Pacific time zone all the way to road game in Winnipeg feels like an Eastern conference travel type of schedule while other teams still have to fly to the Midwest or Eastern conference that is remaining in their schedule.

Advantage goes to the Canucks in the playoffs also depending on who they draw their first round opponent.  Even if they drew central division teams, their starting time will not be too bad, as history of playoffs starting time tells us that they might start their games at 8 or 8:30pm CT (6pm or 6:30pm PT).  The Canucks will definitely be operating in Pacific time zone all the way to WCF.

They've had a cakewalk of a schedule, barely have played any back to back games.

they've had to play the canucks 3 times, though, and that's a tall task for anyone. almost ended their season 2 weeks in.

People are just mad that the Canucks, are doing well.

Yes so many from other Canadians teams are saying we won't make it out of the first round.

Hope the team sees that and shuts them up.
