Paul Bunyan and Davy Crockett did just fine as fabled hero's when I was a kid. Gritty did horrible with adults in focus groups, look at how well he's managed with kids (they thought he was too "scary" for kids). I will say that I've experienced many a high five or fist bump with Marty the Marmot here in Vic at Royal games. Always puts a smile on my face!
