Gurn Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Marcus is 32 now, and I'm presuming this deal kicks in next year ,when he's 33. Solid, d minded guy, but that seems a bit to much, for too long, to me. 1 1 Quote
Jess Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Pretty sure this one will sting. Down year last year and already 32. He'll be 33 when this deal kicks in. At 32, it's likely the start of the decline, not just an off year. Quote

Still seems high to me as well, but you need strong defensive-minded players. And Foligno is pretty solid. Edited September 29, 2023 by Lewlowned 1 Quote
Phil_314 Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Similar deal to his brother AAV wise, except longer term. I guess physically-punishing players have their market value. That being said, I wonder how the Wild have cap space given their two buyouts -- plus they need to re-sign or replace Addison, Hartman, Goligoski and Fleury as soon as next season, along with several useful UFA depth pieces. Two more years of $14M dead cap and the window opens again in fall 2025 1 Quote
Bure_Pavel Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Based on the charts above his play looks to already be on the decline, the last two years of this deal could be regrettable. Quote
JeremyCuddles Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Minnesota is in mid now mode. I like Foligno's game, but I don't think this contract will look good during the 1st year of it. Let alone 2 or 3 years down the line. Quote

Sabrefan1 Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Heart and soul guy, but that is pretty pricey and long. 1 Quote
Elias Pettersson Posted September 30, 2023 Posted September 30, 2023 Foligno is a 20-25 point player other than one outlier year. At 33, this deal might look bad right from the get go, never mind in 2-3 years. Probably will end up as a buyout. I don’t see Foligno lasting until he is 37 years old. And even if he does he will be a 4th line plug by that point. Quote

Bracket will be their GM soon if Gurrin keeps making these kinds of horrible signings. 1 Quote

But yeah he’s definitely going to be a 4th line plug at some point during that contract. Quote

The problem is year... 1 of this contract. Two more years of belt-tightening to go. Quote
Snoop Hogg Posted October 1, 2023 Posted October 1, 2023 Would have been a good contract at both half the price and half the term. Quote
