I don’t know why but I find it baffling that Miller and Scheifele were taken in the same draft.

I always think of Scheifele as younger but I guess he’s been around a long time now.

At this point Scheifele and Miller are pretty comparable so it makes sense for them to have similar contracts. They are identical ages (literally one day different). However, we get Miller for one less year so we win.

Scheifele maybe??  Goaltenders probably don't age that poorly, and legends like Brodeur/ MA Fleury/ Lundqvist were still at least #2's at the tail end of their career in their late mid-30's.  Hellebuyck's probably in that tier so he probably doesn't fall off too terribly, and he could always get "injured" and LTIRetire.

Based on Helly’s contract it should mean Demko’s will be reasonable, as the prior is considered a “consistently elite” goalie, whereas Demko as see as a potentially elite but hasn’t put the string of years together that he needs to be paid that much. 
 

I’m guessing Demko gets $7x8 when he’s up.

And I ask myself, would I trade JT for Scheifele? Nope, not a chance. Hope this quiets some of the boohoo JT Miller contract whiners. Love having JT on this team.
