Would you trade Lafrieniere for Podz?

Recommended Posts

No.

1. From a cap and roster perspective, it makes no sense. We’d need to clear a winger and be able to find cap space for Lafreniere.

2. Lafreniere sucks. You’d essentially be swapping a reclamation project for another reclamation project, which is how both teams would view this trade.

3. If we are to go the trading route in regards to Podkolzin’s future, I’d much rather use him as a piece to upgrade a part of the line up.

Lol no, Podz is a good kid and a solid player, but will take time to develop. Power Forwards always take more time to develop. He will be a key player for us in the future, hard to find guys like that imo

Jake is still developing. Given how long its been, he's gonna be awesome.

Jake didn't really seem like he ever cared, didn't have that hard work aspect to him ever. I think Podz does, and I do genuinely think he'll be a solid player for us. Maybe I'm just optimistic though

I like Podz a lot too. But that would be an enticing deal if it were on the table. Given the history with our AGM I think we'd do this in a heartbeat.

Yes, but not sure why NYR does. AL-Miller-Boeser could do a lot of damage. Pretty hard to game plan that line AND Petey's line with Mik-Petey-Banana man

We'd have to move new Beau somehow before this.

Beau 1m retained + Potzlovin git er dunn.

No.  The floor for Podz is higher.  He can be used as a 3rd or 4th liner.  If Laf doesn't produce, he's useless.

I feel like this is one of those threads we’ll look back and laugh on though.

When Laf becomes a 90 point player and Podz is simply an okay bottom 6.

I mean lafreniere is a disappointment for a 1st overall no doubt.  But the kids has been an NHL regular for two full season , almost 3, on an NHL contender while pacing at 0.5 PPG.  The guy is a legit NHLer , just not an all star like people thought.

Meanwhile, Podkolzin, after a decent 1st season is trending downward, having difficulty earning a spot on one of the weakest team in the league.

I’d take Lafreniere any day over Podz in a 1on1 swap

From what I have read about Laffy's preseason, he isn't even playing well enough to fit the bottom 6

so far.  This will be his 4th season in the NHL and he still hasn't improved.   I would be more alarmed

about him than what's happening with Podz.

We will see.  Laf is entering his 4th season and constantly being shopped.  His numbers are not much different than Yakupov's first 3 seasons.

0.42 PPG isn't 0.5 PPG.

That's a 34 point pace.
