Popular Post Satchmo Posted December 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 29, 2023 Drafted in the 2nd round, 37th overall. Young kid who has the size and some room to grow. Clocking in at a healthy 201 pounds, I'm excited to welcome Jett to the Nucks! Loved this kid in the pre-draft interviews. Fun fact: His Chinese name means Leader on top of the hill , or something along those lines. Correct me if I'm mistaken on that. My thanks to Tomato Pajamas who posted the above on June 23, 2018 1 3 1 Quote
PureQuickness Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Some recent articles about Jett. This one is from September 2003 https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/canucks-how-jett-woo-found-his-way-back-to-big-upside-prospect Basically, Jeremy Colliton has given Woo all the chances to succeed and he has. 1 Quote

He's doing pretty well for himself there. He's earned the coach's trust. I hope he'll be on the team next year. He may take the spot of Cole next year. 6 Quote

I think he has more upside than Juulsen, but if you mean for him to take his spot; it's completely possible. Quite frankly, Juulsen doesn't have the offensive game put together at all, which makes him more one dimensional than Woo. Woo, on the other hand, is not offensively talented by any means, but he has been put in pretty much all situations. Whatever Juulsen can do, I think Woo can do better. 1 Quote
MikeBossy Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 So glad someone added him to the prospects page... 1 1 Quote
CRAZY_4_NAZZY Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 His bad preseason game where the team got lit up 10-0 didn't help Woo's cause, and never saw another preseason game. He has a long way to climb to still be an NHL calibre level dman, mostly making quicker reads. IMO, watching a few of his games so far this season, he still doesn't make the quickest reads defensively. 1 Quote

Abby Canucks are giving him every opportunity to make the big club next year as he is no longer protected from waivers. Both McWard and Johansson are still exempt next year Quote

Aside from being marginally better than McWard, he has been noted as having good chemistry with Wolanin and they've been kept intact for the whole season so far 1 Quote

IIRC Juulsen and Wolanin were considered the top pair last season, while Woo partnered Rathbone very effectively. Colliton liked pairing an offensive D with a defensively-minded one, although Woo is a better skater than Juulsen, Juuls has an awesome first pass capability. (Interestingly, Juulsen has now played 96 NHL games, half with the Canucks. I didn't realize he'd played that many for us) 1 Quote
Mordekai Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 Awesome! If we can develop Juulsen to a steady defenceman, no reason we can’t with Woo. 2 1 Quote

If he could nab the 7/8 spot, with Juulson taking a top 6 role, could help with our cap next season. Quote
