Popular Post Jess
I'm glad he's made an NHL career out of his hard work. Great career for a 5th round pick. 7 2
JeremyCuddles
Kuzmenko before we got Kuzmenko. Seems like a fun guy to be around. Glad he found a niche in the NHL.

AK-19
Certainly wished we re-signed him as opposed to signing Jordie Benn back when we let him go.

NewbieCanuckFan
Surprise #1: A draft pick made by Mike Gillis that actually worked out. Surprise #2: Our Canadian amateur scouts actually hit one? That Stecher-Hutton combo didn't look too bad while they were here (considering the circumstances)

Quantum
He's going to cross the 500 NHL game mark this season. A lot of twist and turns for his career. I really liked him here and wish he could've been on a better team. He's going to make a great NHL on camera personality once his playing career wraps up. DownUndaCanuck
Crazy to think we let him go after being a basement team, he jumped around a few decent teams and then ends up on the best team in the league and plays consistently on their bottom pairing and PK and does well for a few years. Got very lucky being taken up by Vegas and of course their decent team play, structure and coaching turns him into a fairly good bottom pairing guy. Good for Ben he was a fun player. His goal scored from the player bench door was classic!
DrJockitch
Oh yes Guddy-Hutton we’re going to be our dominant second pairing for a decade.

Wasn't gonna happen after his -23 season. He never fulfilled his promise after his rookie season and Benning showed us how to mismanage a contract. You can't pay young players until they actually produce something. You can't pay based on what you hope they are going to become. It works out sometimes with players like Jack Hughes but Hutton is no Hughes. For the vast majority, you can't put the cart before the horse. When it was clear that he was never going to be a top 4 player and needed to be paired with a steady veteran, his QO couldn't be paid. It's really hard to walk back a salary once you pay too much. The same happened with Boeser. Lucky for us his contract wasn't tradeable last year because he'd be gone. Benning overpaid Virtanen and Sutter as well to name a few. I'm loving the contracts that Allvin is signing. Much more reasonable.

He's not exactly a crazy game-changer; therefore, it's not crazy to think we let him go. I don't think I'd ever think it crazy to let a bottom pairing dman go unless if we thought he was going to become a top 4, which he hasn't. The guy's 30 years old now and had to bounce around the league 1st to get to where he's at. Edited December 24, 2023 by The Lock
