Back in the Vezina convo for 2023-24. Calling it now.

That makes two of us.... Any other on here that think Demko will top 3 this year?  If he stays healthy, I have no question.  He's in his prime now, decent back up and really knows how to take care of his body now.

If we get another top 4 D, Smooth Jimmy would say:

100%. Especially with Tocchet, Foote, Gonchar et al. taking an apparent defense first approach to the game, and management hiring defensive minded/penalty kiling specialists in the offseason.

I mean it's easy to say the Vezina talk is overly optimistic, but considering how the organization identified and addressed the aforementioned deficiencies (best they can with the players available) it appears to be realistic outcome.  Barring, yeah, some kind of injury laden catastrophe. As Rutherford stated "we have a playoff team right now... if everything goes right" (knock on wood.) And if it does, Demko is in the Vezina convo. I have zero doubt.

I predicted greatness for Demko years ago and used to drool over him on the old board.  I thought 21-22 was the beginning of that story, but he took a disappointing step or two backwards in his play the next year.

I hope he's fully healthy this year and returns to an upward trajectory because I'd imagine if he doesn't start showing the promise he not too long ago had, Allvin and the rest of the chipmunks will start shopping for someone new.

I think he was battling through something the first bit of last season which was what led to him going down early on.

Looked healthy AF tonight and even beat EDM while being unhealthy that game.... I'd say things are lookin good

He's looked pretty good so far.  I've liked what we've seen.  I hope he continues to do well.  Him becoming as good as I once thought he'd be and Petey re-signing to a long term contract could be the difference between another quick re-tool or a complete tear down and rebuild.

Made my format for my Vezina analyses I'll use this year. I don't officially start them until the quarter mark of the season, but I did a quick test and Demko sits currently at 2nd place, behind Jeremy Swayman. They're both quite close and a distant third is Oettinger. He's very much in the early conversation so far.

Love Thatcher. He's a Demmer God!!!!!! (Sorry. Somewhat of a groaner, huh.) Other than his injury plagued issues last season;  dude's been lights out since the start of this season. Demmer's contract was a brilliant piece of work, and I'm sooooooo glad we have him for our accent to cup contention. On a side note...........

.........Whenever SN Canuck game telecasts introduce the starting goalies, more often than not, the opposing goalie's already in his net stretching or doing drills and such. However, Demmer's somewhere by his team bench along the boards, maskless and snortin' what I believe to be smelling salts. I mean REALLY snortin' it up!

Don't get me wrong. I'm in no way criticizing this exercise and/or his pre-game ritual. Whatever floats ones boat, right? But smelling salts are really powerful stuff. And I assume it's harmless. But I dunno. Any users of smelling salts out there? Educate me on this, if you please. I'm guessing this action is integral to Demmer's success and consistent performance.

I mean, every player has their routines. As I said; definitely not a criticism, just an observation. It is working though.

Keep up the good work, Demmer!
