RWJC
West Notes: Myers, Lekkerimaki, Markstrom, Bjugstad March 18th, 2024 at 7:28pm CST • By Brian La Rose Defenseman Tyler Myers is one of several Canucks veterans that are set to hit the open market in July and the team won’t be able to afford to keep all of them. CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal reports that the veteran has told his agent that he’d like to remain with Vancouver. The 34-year-old is in his fifth season with the Canucks and while his $6MM price point is above market value, he’s still logging important minutes, especially on the penalty kill where he ranks second in shorthanded ATOI. While a $6MM contract isn’t likely coming his way this summer, Myers should still command interest from several teams on a multi-year deal which should help land him a contract somewhat close to that price tag. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2024/03/west-notes-myers-lekkerimaki-markstrom-bjugstad.html#ref=home
Popular Post Sabrefan1
You mean that he wants to keep making millions of dollars on a contending team?! I'm shocked! Who woulda thunk it?! 6 1
Popular Post The Duke
Canucks need to figure out Hronek and then they can start thinking about Myers and the rest. Ask what all of Zadorov, Cole and Myers want and then make the best decision for the team if there’s any bargains to be had there. I’d love to keep them but I wouldn’t really want to be paying any of them much more than 4 mil. 1 2 1

Popular Post I.Am.Ironman
Myers as a bottom pairing dman is more than fine. He won't be making his current 6M but he is still serviceable in that role and by all accounts a great teammate. The price and term have to be right, of course. All that being said, both Hronek and Zadorov are of much higher priority. 3 1 1

As a veteran guy he may be inclined to reup at 3-3.5 to continue his career close to home.
Popular Post Elias Pettersson
Willander is hopefully ready in 2025, so we only need a one year fill in for that RHD spot. The other spot can be filled by Juulsen or someone else like Juulsen. So, I think I can live without Myers after this year. See ya big guy, it was nice knowing you... 2 2 1 1

chaoticmonkey
I'd expect something like 2.5-3 x 2 years. Anything more than that and we should move on. 2

I don't think he is from Calgary. He played junior in Kelowna from 2005 and spends the off-season there every year. I think it's safe to say his permanent home is in Kelowna. Now he may end up in Calgary, and if GM Conroy offers him 3x3M, I'm sure he'd listen, but there may be other options if he makes it to July 1st. Popular Post Warhippy
In a perfect world, the Nucks manage to retain Myers for $1.75-$2.2 million over a season or three. Using the near $4 million in savings to give Zadorov a nice $1.5 million bump to $5.25 million a year and giving the remaining $2.5 million in whole or part to Hronek to bring him to that $6.5 to $7.1 million he's possibly worth. This keeps the Canucks D core at this stage of things without a significant loss and no increase in actual cap allowing them to either add on the wings or use the savings to weather the next 2 years of increased dead cap on OEL But the world isn't perfect and agents are greedy while GMs can not control themselves. 3

If Kelowna is his summer home, then that is indeed his home. I believe he grew up in Calgary but Kelowna being his true home is... a good thing for us. HKSR
If I had to pick between Zadorov and Myers, I'd choose Zadorov. I'd only bring Myers back if he is willing to sign for dirt cheap. Doubt it though as I think he could get upwards of $4m on the open market. 1
PhillipBlunt
Not a cent over $1.5M, and not a day over 2 years. That's it. If Myers wants more, he can hit the UFA market on July 1st. 1 1 1
flickyoursedin
Just can’t see the money working out for Myers if bottom pairing is his new home. Juulsen probably slides into that spot next season saving us the cap space to hopefully retain some of the better players we could be losing.
RWJC
I think Myers will have at least a couple offers from elsewhere at 3.5 per. That’s going rate (maybe less) for what he can contribute. Posted the article to see what some posters think is realistic in terms of his next contract. Edited March 19 by RWJC
Shcott
I’m completely content with just letting him walk. Can potentially find better cheaper options, in my opinion.
DownUndaCanuck
Some team is going to give him 2-3 years, 4-5M. His stat line is very good all things considered but we know the truth. I wouldn't give him more than 3.5M to be honest. Myers and Zadorov shouldn't cost us more than 9m.
aGENT
9 hours ago, flat land fish said: As a veteran guy he may be inclined to reup at 3-3.5 to continue his career close to home. Ewe no. I mean his market value probably sees him sign elsewhere for $3.5-$4.5, but we in no way can afford to pay him that. We need a legit top 4 guy here (Tanev?) with those dollars. 8 hours ago, Warhippy said: 1.5 million. 2 max. This. If he's willing to come back at/under $2m x 2, great! But that's roughly half his market value and we can't afford his market value. Especially with what almost assuredly includes trade clauses.
