He had a reasonable development season last year playing bigger roles and scoring big goals in key games for the baby nux. Going from there many had hoped he would come out firing and build on it this year, but that hasn't really happened. His NHL camp was poor and he didn't impress to the level of others in the Young Stars. He started the AHL season in Abby and also looked behind the play at times and then got injured. Upon his return earlier this month he put up 2 points in the 3 games he played then has gone down again with what I've heard reported as a sickness, but I'm not 100% sure on his status. Regardless he seems to have had a less than ideal start to the year. Overall I'm not writing him off as a bust yet - its still too soon to tell. The kid has all the tools, can skate, shoot, hit, fight. He just needs to grow and understand the North American game from my perspective. I see a bit of Podz and even Jake in his game. He scrambles a lot and can make really dumb plays in his own end. He looses the puck a lot trying low percentage plays in O zone, and doesn't utilize his line mates very well, trying to do to much himself. While that sounds bad - there are times when it clicks and he looks like baby Ovie as some had hoped he would be. Often overcoming this large a gap on hockey IQ is hard to do - but given Klims age, history and development its not a nail in the coffin yet. I suppose I should've clarified in my post that most of my message was not meant to be attributed to Bob Long specifically, but to people in general.
